so both this method and this method work on my 2012, except, they both turn on the reverse lights as well. while that is a nice feature for closing gates at night, i dont want them on while im going down the highway. any ideas on how to get just the camera on?

Anyone got the wiring diagram for the 2013/2014 back up camera that's in the dash, not the mirror?

Has anybody added a front camera and got it to display with. The jbl entune head unit as well as the rear view camera?

I don't need them both on at the same time, I'd just like to have control of the front just like this mod does in this thread.

Also looking for any 2014 info if it's out there. Can't imagine it'd be that different than other years other than the routing of the cable to the dash instead of the mirror (wishful thinking?)

Drakivnsf, do your reverse lights come on with the switch? I have a 2012 entune with nav like you.

Has anyone figured out how to feed the image to the rearview as well?

By corrected do you mean the camera works on the NAV unit anytime you flip the switch? Do the backup lights no longer come on unless you are truly in reverse?

I so want this mod on my 14, but I really don't want the backups on while I'm driving down the road

I know this post is a little old but I have the same question/clarification.

Just to clarify, When you swapped your switch to a SPDT On,Off,On it fixed the problem? If so I am assuming the "off" postion will completely disable the camera system?
(Not necessarily a bad feature if that is the case because sometimes I want normal HU display while in reverse with no camera display.

I am going to attempt on '15 Entune Plus unit Non Nav, Non JBL, Camera displays on HU.

Any additional tips/trick/warnings would be appreciated.

Any luck on this? I've got a 2015 6-speed manual with Entune Premium and am interested in this from the perspective that I want to add some additional undercarriage cameras through a video switch to the display. First step is to be able to turn on the camera display whenever I want...

Just completed this mod on my 2015 6-speed manual with Entune Premium system; well, maybe "completed" is a strong word. I used a SPDT (on-on) switch and all works great. However, I don't like the switch, and in hind sight there is a better way to do this. I would suggest using instead an SPST switch (preferably for me, lighted) and use it to drive an SPDT relay to make the contacts. I will probably make that change in the near future. A few other tidbits I learned:
    • The backup camera is on with the car, always, driven by 6VDC,
    • The design of Toyota delete switch blanks suck for trying to customize them for switch installation
One thing I still need to discover, so any help appreciated, is where the backup camera leads route from the driver's side door sill to the head. I need to find a good location to tie into that feed for adding cameras.

My '14 SR5 with the Entune (non Nav) displays on the head unit - I don't have the home link mirror setup (e.g. my rear view mirror is dumb, no electrical/embedded display). I used an Air On Board reverse camera switch to toggle a 5 pin NO(87)/NC(87A) relay like what Doug mentioned. I got 11.8VDC to chassis ground at the CPU where the break was made.

The backup lights only turn on when in reverse. I haven't tested the 5 minute screen timeout complaint. Probably won't be an issue anyway.

If it is a coax video feed, adding a front/back camera feed switch shouldn't be difficult at all. Hell, might be fun to add a IR camera and an IR flood for night time no-lights driving :censored:

Looking at this switcher and these cameras. Probably need to put the switcher behind one of the back seats, and can put an input selector switch somewhere on the dash. This would allow me to add 4 more cameras in addition to the current backup camera. I think I can tie in under the driver's side sill, but have to locate the wires. Need to find out yet if this switcher continuously powers the cameras or if they are only powered when selected.

Since it looks to be just a composite signal, I wonder if a standard relay would work - if the contact resistance of the relay doesn't mess up the signal quality. Would make installing/controlling a second camera a breeze. A second relay could handle power switching between the two, or use a DPTD relay for both.

More than 2 would get messy with relays. That switch box would be just the ticket, and would provide juice as well.

Edit: looks like a relay will work. Parts on order :)

Let me know how it goes, especially where you tie into the video line. I've got a query into these guys before I dive in -- I would love to just get all the parts in one place rather than pieces here and more pieces there. Right now I'm thinking of just making up male/female connectors to tie into the video line right at the point the tailgate camera connects, though I think under the door sill would be best. I know the bundle they are in, but I don't know which wires yet without some additional investigation. If only it would stop raining long enough to play with things a bit more.

Does anyone actually know what the pixel resolution is on the Entunes HU or what the backup camera output resolution is? I'm at the point where I want to order parts to add cameras, but I would like to make the best match I can. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure I understand all the relay talk. This sounds like a more acceptable way to do this mod and you say it's working correctly. Any way you could describe/show your install a little clearer for me?

A 5 pin relay has one common connector which goes to the stereo (30) and depending on if the relay is energized or not, either 87 or 87A (each connected to a separate camera) will provide the signal. This way, a single on/off switch can energize the coil (85 and 86) and switch the camera source.
