I just ordered a Viair 400h. I'm looking for any advice or pics of a decent mounting location. So far I'm considering somewhere under the hood or in one of my bed compartments. I don't plan on running an air tank, maybe in the future I will. Also I may consider an ARB front locker eventually.

Heaps of threads here discussing the same issue, here is one that somewhat combines them all.

I was actually checking it out the other day and pondering some ideas but blew them off and bought a new suspension lift to replace the one that I derped and sold.

I actually just finished mounting mine up. Here are some pictures. I used an ARB CKMA12 compressor and ran hose for 2 quick connects - one in the front and one in the rear. You can access all 4 tires with the fill up hose that I have, but this way you should have access to at least 1 of the positions!

    Mounting Location:
    IMG_2624.jpg

Tough to see, but in the top right of the picture you can see the air splitter and set up I have:
    IMG_2625.jpg

Front Quick Connect (Follow the front valence line down and you can see it):
    IMG_2621.jpg

Rear Quick Connect (red hose w/ brass fitting):
    IMG_2622.jpg

Hope this helps/gives you some ideas!

Thanks for the replies. That's a really clean set up. I'm leaning toward an under the hood set up. I'll have to spend some time assessing the mounting locations under there.

Thanks. All I need now is some dust caps for the two quick connects so that I can keep debris out of them when traveling! Having a hard time finding them though.

that's a good piont, one which I hadn't thought of. it can't be too hard to find some caps.

good idea. I may just get one myself and return it if it won't work. I'm headed to the beach in Mexico next week and I wanna have my set up before then. No telling where Ill be able to air up down there I'm sure I'll have to drop my psi out in the sand.

Yea likely need the set up functioning, and if you have a quick connect in a spot similar to either of the ones that I have, definitely going to want a protector for all that sand getting kicked up etc.

    Have fun!

Get some 3 inch tube jigs and cut them down to the size you want. Yes they are for fishing but make great caps. Plus you get a whole package for cheap so it you loose or tear one, your covered.

Duct tape son. I know it's ghetto, but it will work temporarily.

It is a good temporary solution! Just found some on Amazon that fit right in them.

    But duct tape for now

For caps you could also check HD or Lowes for the little rubber feet for chairs that go over the legs. I've used those for covers for other things before.

This is where I mounted mine. Pretty good location which is out of the way and it was much easier than you would expect to get the compressor in there. The only issue was having to run power to the opposite end of the truck. In the end, I just installed a small Blue Sea Systems aux fuse panel in the drivers side cubby, above the wheel well. Working great so far and now I have all the power I will probably ever need in the back end of the truck.

Would love to see some pics of this mounted up. Not the first time I have heard of this location, but haven't seen pics of it before.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I just got my viair compressor in. I couldn't find a suitable spot under the hood. I ended up going in the passenger side Cubby. I had to do a little bit of trimming off the top of the cubby but it looks pretty clean. I got the metal doors that lock from mob city offroad little while back. I'll get some pics of it up tomorrow.
