Offer to pay for the bushing. If that helps. It's a 60$ part

The Dealer actually has the bushings in stock lol. But they have also informed me that Toyota has a factory solution for this
since June 15 2015. They are fully aware of the problem and have been using the bushing for the last year. But since Toyota has a solution
to the problem they have also ordered the improved parts from Toyota

So after the install last weekend the vibes are back. 30-40 mph. Most noticeable when coasting. The strange thing is, is that it changed to a much higher pitch than it sounded before. Definitely the driver side. It almost tickles my foot when it happens. Really bummed. I would go as far to say that it is worse than before.

Im wondering if in my paranoia of driving the bushing in too far, I didn't drive it in far enough.

The side that you can see when driving the bushing in should've been flush with the inside metal part according to a guy at ecgs

Thanks Matt. For some reason I only drove it in flush to the outer carrier, not the inner part. Hopefully that is my issue.

Well gents, I finally completed my ECGS bushing install. Unfortunately, it did not solve my vibration/buzz issue. I'm pretty bummed about that since much blood, sweat, and tears went into getting that needle bearing replaced with the bushing. Once I got the needle bearing out and it looked perfectly fine, I figured this would be the outcome, but a small sliver of hope remained that I was wrong. Anyhow, now I'm back to the drawing board...

I have the ECGS removal tool that I would be willing to loan to anybody here who needed it. I'd just ask that you pay for the shipping. PM me if you are interested. I don't mean to take any business away from the ECGS guys, but I'm happy to help people save a buck or two.

I'm going to be doing the bushing in a week or 2 when I re gear, let me know what you want for the tool

What's the Toyota solution? A better bearing or a bushing like ecgs? I'm guessing the ecgs is a more cost effective option.

My old bearing and shaft was also perfectly fine after 100k but it did remove all my vibes when I replaced it. Maybe your problem is a wheel bearing or driveline?

Yea mine was fine as well (visually) with 35k mi on the lift before putting in the ECGS bushing. Sometimes I notice a "slight" vibe still. There is still a little slop on that CV but it is reduced greatly. It's the best solution other than going with an arb or other carrier for now. IMO the bushing could be a tad tighter but I realize you have to have some tolerance. Maybe a new CVJ makes it better? That's why Toyota usually will do that if they have it out.

Yeah I'm going to start by interrogating the wheel bearings and driveshafts more closely next. Hopefully something will jump out. I'm afraid to take my truck to a shop because the vibration and buzz is very subtle and so I would expect a mechanic to come back with a "normal" diagnosis and I won't get anywhere.

Update 8/5/2015: Did a road round-trip from San Jose, CA to Seattle, WA. Approximately 2035miles mostly highway. We drove up I-5 then drove down along HWY-101. A lot of climbs/descents and twisties through the Oregon and California redwoods. No issues ... I would call this ECGS bearing a positive permanent fix.

Have you ruled out the noise and vibes being the wheel hub bearing? Check out this thread. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-ive-done-the-work-you-save-the-money.288282/

So what's the status on this? Will all dealers order this part if you are under warranty?

There's at least one in this thread with the problem.

Even trucks without lift have had this problem. I never noticed it, but when I was greasing the driveshafts I noticed there was a ton of play in the drivers side CV Axel were it goes to the diff. It never caused any problems for me that I noticed. I did change it to the ECGs bushing and the play is gone. Its pretty easy to do . and if you wheel a lot you should learn how to change a CV Axel anyways. They are known to break on the trail and its just good to know.

I made a thread here about a grinding I'm getting post-ECGS install. Ignore the comments about the leak, I've sotrted that out. I've been playing with the truck trying to figure out what's going on. It's definitely low speed only, exacerbated by turning though I can sometimes hear something at very low speed when going straight (maybe a brake shield issue). It doesn't appear to be side dependent at all. I pulled my mudflaps to rule them out today.
