If your like me and love the way a v8 sounds with a good exhaust then just leave your truck stock unless your trying to squeeze out some extra HP. It is impossible to get close to that sound on our trucks to the best of my knowledge.. though I hope someone can prove me wrong..

I'm with MadDaddy. I put the MagnaFlow 15315 on my 2014 and really like it. Each to their own.

I should add that as I get older I am becoming more sound sensitive and the MF is just the right amount esp. on the highway.

What he said times 2....sort of. In my case the TRD Performance Cat back was "stock". Many folks on this forum love the sound of it....I must be getting old as it was annoying to me so I pulled it off and installed a "stock" cat back from a 2015 TRD Sport....the sound? Pretty much isn't any which is just fine by me. For a daily driver I'd rather listen to my stereo than the exhaust....I have a flowmaster 60 series on my FJ 40 and love it. Rumbles when I want it to and is not bad the rest of the time (but it's a V-8) and in an open rig will big full mudders it's loud anyway ....also just a toy so not something I drive a lot.

Interesting to hear that....so many folks saying there is no drone on the TRD set up...maybe where one drives etc. I'm in the mountains and I had the same issue...quiet on the freeway but pretty much an annoying drone much of the time. Put on a shell and a full bed rug and it was louder so ended up buying a stock exhaust from a 2015 TRD Sport and put it on my 2015 TRD Pro. Don't miss the sound at all. Kind of nice to have a quiet truck where I don't have to crank the stereo to cover the exhaust sound.

Had a 19" round gibson put in the stock piping and a 3.5" tip put on. At idle it's not much more than stock, jumping on it has a decent rumble. Been meaning to make a vid/recording but haven't had the chance. Opted on the Gibson after listening to every 4.0L video on YouTube and beyond. Pretty happy with it thus far.

Just pipe in V8 sounds through the speakers like Ford does on their V6's

    Super ghey.

I recently test drove the 2015 3.5L Ecoboost and Coyote 5.0 L V8. You can tell the difference between a real V8 under the hood and Ford's attempt to put ointment on the butthole of redneck america. I personally liked the turbo whoosh of the 2014 3.5 L Fords. It reminded me of progress.

I ordered a Borla Cat Back for my '15 Taco 4.0 a week ago. Problem is they say it can take 1-2 months to ship!! Crazy.

If you haven't done anything to your truck I'll eventually post a video to share with others when I get mine done.

Only a couple Borla videos on YouTube with Tacomas. I don't think either of them are done very well personally. This compares his stock system to Borla: Click Here

I also considered ordering a Spintech 9000 muffler and having it custom installed. There's at least one guy on YouTube using that muffler and his truck sounds pretty decent: Click Here

Stock. Had the Flowmaster 50 Series SUV dual on my last Tacoma. Sounded alright, but not worth it in my opinion. The only way to get that V8 rumble is to get a V8. This 4.0L just sounds like ass with anything aftermarket.

I watch the Spintech vid, sounds pretty good. Kyitty, do you like your exhaust you ended up ordering?

Heck I think my MagaFlow 15315 makes my truck sound great. MadDaddy turn several of us on to it last year.

    Howdy,
I had a 60 series flowmaster on a V-6 Jeep and it was deep with no interior drone. It is the only series designed for a V-6.

I ended up doing the Spintech. Borla took forever and I eventually cancelled the order. It's growing on me. LOL It's not as deep as I'd prefer it to be. But that's difficult to attain with a V6.

Personally, I think the Spintech sounds better INSIDE the cab than it does outside. You can hear a little bit of gurgle from inside that I don't think comes through outside. But then again - I'm driving it not watching someone else drive it.

    Here's my own before/after clip.

Here's another comparison before/after in the garage and driving.

Sounds pretty good. Do you know what the difference between the 6000 and 9000 series? The vid you previous vid you posted was the 9000...

Yep. The 9000 series muffler is significantly shorter at 9 inches total length. This is their loudest muffler as it muffles less. The 6000 series is 12 inches total length and therefore mufflers a little more.

According to Spintech the difference is 5 CFM of flow using a 2.5" diameter pipe.
