Not having simple, cheap features like this is total BS really. I had a base model 98 Corolla that had an outside temp gauge. Other things too, like variable intermittent wipers. Why can you even buy a new Toyota without them? Years ago my mom had a 93 Camry, yes, 1993, that had variable int wipers. It's crazy the things they do to save a few bucks.

Yup. That compass is a lifesaver for people like me who don't have any sense of direction. :amen:

2015 Limited doesn't have it either :/. My 07 taco had it and it was great when it's 33 degrees out and the roads are wet. Entune might get the town over but even then might refresh an hour later. I put the Ultragauge in and i'm trying to figure out how many degrees I should subtract from intake temp to know how hot/cold it is outside.

If you want to add the compass/temp and any other feature you want, there's a member here that sells them. Comes with all wiring, plug and play.

I was looking at 2015 Tacoma's yesterday. To me not having temp, compass, and auto dimming mirror is a deal breaker. It makes me wonder where else they've cheapened it up.

My previous three Tacoma's had these features, but now we get a downgrade?

Oh, and the weather and traffic apps don't work. Dealer says Toyota informed them that Buffalo, NY isn't a big enough city for it to have a HD signal.

So now I'm looking at 4Runners......

IIRC all the wiring is still in the headliner for the mirror. Compass / Temp. I know some people are buying aftermarket mirrors for their trucks and putting them in. I really don't know why they deleted this option and I agree with you guys that it seems as if were a step backward. And like some have said... I watch the temp when it gets close to freezing outside and wet. Nice to have a baseline to run off of during those circumstances.

Not to change the subject but I can't for the life of me get my iPhone 6 to hook up to any of the apps on my entune. HD radio for weather is useless. I can hook up my Galaxy Note 5 with no issues and everything works perfectly. All apps and having weather come through the phone to the radio with radar is great. But running the same entune app on my iPhone and I can't get it to do shit other than make and receive calls :notsure:

I tried weather and traffic in the Tacoma with my iPhone 6. Didn't work.

They both worked in the 4Runner.

This is really disappointing. The lease on my Taco is up in December. I don't really "need" a pickup. The 4Runner is nicer in every way, and not really that much more money. So now I'm seriously debating getting back into a Taco. The 2016 does not give me a boner.

Yeah, I've done everything I can think of to get my iPhone to connect to the apps with no success. Android is no problem. It's weird because my FR-S radio was completely designed around apple but this Tacoma doesn't even act like it want's to recognize the phone (other than to make and receive calls). I should have noticed in the app store all the 1 stars given for the entune app.

The 4-Runner is awesome and if I didn't need a truck that would be my next choice.

I agree with the 16. I'm not sold on it yet. That said I thought the 4-Runner was ass ugly when it came out but now I actually like it. I figure the new Tacoma will grow on me also. Not enough for me to trade for one though. Hell... I've got too much invested in mine and I'll have it paid for in less than a year.

Have you had any luck with getting it to connect to the apps with entune? I've got the JBL / Nav system in mine with no luck. If you have could you share some pointers I might have missed?

That's a good solution if you already own one without it, but I wouldn't buy a new truck unless it was OEM and installed prior to delivery.

They do have them available from Toyota for $399. That includes auto dimming, temp, and compass.
