Did you pay MSRP for your Tacoma?

Then 2k might be a big deal. I know there is pretty much a monopoly in your area for Toyota vehicles so there probably isn't as much wiggle room. I was able to haggle off more than that from my truck, but my salesperson was a fail so that might of had something to do with it.

Ok, if Toyota Canada doesn't us to have a DCSB 4x4 TRD off-road, then lets seem what is needed to get on from the US and bring it here. On the 2015, there was some modifications required as stated in Registry of Imported Vehicule (RIV):

"Note 1: [EIS] Electronic Immobilization System: for vehicles built AFTER September 1, 2007, you must read paragraph #9 of the "EXPLANATIONS" section. "

"Note 2: Possible modifications may include: daytime running lamps, electronic immobilization system (see Note 1), metric odometer and speedometer labels. At federal inspection, the RIV will verify that vehicle is equipped with functional daytime running lamps. Importer must also demonstrate that the vehicle is equipped with an electronic immobilization system for vehicles built AFTER September 1, 2007. Other requirements may also apply."

There used to be also a child seat retainer bracket but it is not mentionned.

    From the following document http://www.tfltruck.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/2016-toyota-Tacoma-Technical-specs.pdf

Daytime running lights seems standard on all configurations. Checked.
Electronic immobilization system: on page 10, there is an Engine immobilizer which is standard. Is it the requires system?
Metric odometer and speedometer: is there an option mentionned in the User Manual to select units system used?

Can someone with the User Manual (seems available on TIS but with subcription) can confirm?

Some clarifications about the Electronic Immobilization System required, from RIV web site:

    9. [EIS] ELECTRONIC IMMOBILIZATION SYSTEM - Every passenger vehicle, multipurpose passenger vehicle, truck and three-wheeled vehicle manufactured after September 1, 2007, with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) less than 4,536 kg (10,000 lbs), except an emergency vehicle or a walk-in van, must be equipped with an electronic immobilization system, as per the requirements of CMVSS 114 - Theft Protection.

Electronic immobilizers typically require a special key or a small electronic device to start a vehicle's engine. This type of system, when activated, prevents the operation of the engine in response to any attempt to start the vehicle without using the authorized key, by shutting off one or more parts of the engine's electrical system. This might include the starter, ignition or fuel system.

I think the 2016 already includes this. At least the configurations with the Push to Start option.

The 2016 should be able to be brought into Canada without and modifications, unless you can turn off DRL's, in which case you will need to make sure you can't do that. The immobilizer is good.

For the odometer and speedometer, is there a selection in the menus? If not, where do you get these damn stickers?

I don't think the odometer matters has I brought in my 2008 from the USA and it was after the 2007-09-01 build date. The speedometer is in miles and kilometres already.

The speedometer is in miles and km/h, so nothing needs to be done for that. Most RIV inspection centers will likely have a sticker if you want to get one anyway.

We are an RIV inspection centre. As long as there is km/h on the speedometer, you're fine, but we also have stickers.

What are financing options when buying in the US and bring it back to Canada. Is it possible to finance in the US or I have to buy it cash in the US and finance it myself in Canada. Is an arrangement with Toyota Canada Financing possible?

I'm pretty sure 100% no. Maybe through a bank but not Toyota.
