November 6th - 8th (Friday-Sunday)

Background Info
Rug Road is an historic 23 mile AZ ranching/mining 4WD trail that crosses the Galiuro Mountains East of Mammoth, over to Turkey Creek and the town of Klondyke. *This trail is Rated 3.5 - 4/5 depending on summer storms* Due to the number of 4WD attendees, we may split into two groups that will be 20 minutes apart on the trail.

Highlights/Obstacles
-The Tire Chute
-Carpet Hill
-Table Mountain Pass
-Smelter/mine ruins at Table Mountain Mine
-Abandoned cabins at Bleak Spring and Parson's Grove
-Moab-style wheeling and scenery at east 1/4th of trail
-Bad-ass camping in Turkey Creek at east end of trail

Saturday Day Trip
-Ghost-Town Site of Aravaipa
-Sein Fein/Head Center Mine (Requires 1/4 Mile Hike & Flashlights for Underground Exploring)
-Grand Central Silver/Lead Mine

This trip is 2WD/PreRunner friendly via alternate route (aka "Operation Backdoor Penetration") from either Thatcher (East of Globe) or Wilcox (East of Tucson).

**4WD Route Requirements**
-Larger than stock tires
-Minimum 2" of lift
-Rock sliders
-CB Radio or HAM is recommended
-Tread Lightly

Final stop for fuel and supplies for the group and Phoenix crew will be at the Circle K in Mammoth @ 0830-0900

*With a stop in Wilcox to top off, this route is roughly 4 hours*

The Phoenix 2WD group will meet at the QuikTrip on Greenfield South of the 60 @ 0730

*With a stop in Globe (Circle K- 2011 U.S. 70, Globe, AZ 85501) to top off, this route is about 4 hours*

Thanks for the offer bud! @a.smo volunteered to do it if he wasn't doing Rug Road, but since you're local it'll be easier to meet up to give you the trailer.

 

I'm 95% sure I'm going. We will just plan a time and make it official the closer we get

 

Sounds good. Not sure if you've seen pics of it our not, but it's a small expo trailer that weighs around 1000 lbs fully loaded with gear. really easy to tow. Like I said, I'll slip you some cash for towing it.

The intended use was awesome but he just doesn't TW anymore. I'm not even sure gypsy is up and running

 

I think it's been there for well over a year

 

Jake is going to Ireland within the next month and will be gone for 3 months. I think he trolls tw every so often. He has only posted in the Monday meet thread a couple of times.
As far as I know, Gypsy is up and running, but the BRZ takes most of the miles these days.

Cool bud! I have 3 jetskis myself, just got done modding my trailer to haul all three of them.

 

Nice man! I've thought about selling mine and getting a couple newer ones, but I like that fact that I can work on them without feeling like I'm performing brain surgery. Mine are quite a bit older, all 2 strokes, 1993 Yamaha Waveblaster, and 1995 Yamaha Waveraider, both are 700s but the blaster has a couple grand in the motor. And the third is a 1996 Kawasaki ZXI 750, which I just got running again from sitting since 2012.

 

Bad ass!

 

The Blaster is my favorite. It's built to haul balls and is tuned for high octane gas. I've ran AV gas and racing fuel in it a couple times.. Was an ass-puckering good time! I have to run premium gas with octane booster in it or the engine will ping like hell.
