tire size with leveling kit

hey everyone, i will be in the market for some new tires very soon. i have an 07 sport. i was wondering if with something as minor as a leveling kit or 5100s up front would allow me to run a larger tire than stock. i don't mind some trimming. so pretty much, the same question as everyone else is trying to find the answer to, what is the biggist tire i can run without an actual 3 inch lift?

 

I changed mine from 265/65/17 with stock rims to 265/70/17 DC1s 17x9,4.5 backspace and -12 offset and got away with it with 5100s at 175 and tsb rear.handles better IMO than when i first drove my taco out of the dealer lot.

 

did you have to do any trimming up front?

 

I'm running 265/70r17 tires on the stock trd rims with no rubbing on the stock 4x4 suspension.

 

I put a 2.5 daystar strut space and clear 31's no rubbing and no cutting at all... and it sits level,,,

 

I did trim a bit since i got the tires before i did the lift.Very minimal trimming.It only rubs on inclined turns before i did the billys.After the lift i got space to put pro-fit mudflaps w/o rubbing.

 

thanks for the feedback. i guess i'll be looking for some 265/70s then. i'll probably do the level too even though it doesn't need it. i just like the look.

 

With 5100's up front set at 2.5/top most notch you can fit 285/33 tires. You WILL have to trim. Click ME that is a link to what i had trimmed up. Since then i have trimmed more and have gotten my cab mounts chopped and boxed.

You can run 265/70/17 with no problems.

 

if i run the billies up front set at max height, will the front of the truck be severly higher than the rear?

and by 285s, are you talking about 285/70s?

 

You will have a slight rake front to rear. An AAL can fix that. Yes 285/70/17 with 5100's set at max/2.5/top most notch.

 

My buddy on his trd sport just put a 1.5 inch lift in the front and has 285-70-17 hancook mt on a stock rim and he doesnt rub

 

I know there is one guy on here who was able to put 285's on without a lift no trimming or rubbing, but from my own experience and most others on here trimming WAS involved.
