CBs and CB antennas

    Due to the lack of space inside the cab I am using a cobra 75 wx st. Using a nite-ize magnet mount I have it right next to the shifter. Since I got a cover I ordered a BAMF mount and put the CB antenna on the pass. side. My 6' whip gave me 1/1.5 SWR. 2' Firestik was off the charts. Will try a 5' firestik soon. You can also see my 2m/70cm antenna on the drivers side. BAMF mount is perfect for that shorty. It's too thin for my 6' HAM antenna - it twists back and forth as the antenna moves (heavy antenna).

    Ok thanks , I was thinking about 2 ft fire stick and putting between cab and tool box. But might have sw problems as well. And worried about ground plain.

    ATV trail dents, many, many lights, 4-6 beer cans.
    Will snap a few shots of my setup and post tomorrow, 4' firestik mounted on the front rail behind the passenger rear headrest, it works for the time being but I'm going to have to find a more permanent solution in short order, snow season = tonneau back on.

    I just installed a Uniden 520xl and a NGP 4' FireStick attached to the bed rails with an ATO Bed Rail Mount. The antenna sits a little crooked right now, just haven't had the time to fix it.

    I mounted the 520xl to the side of the center console by the drivers leg. It's not easy to see while driving, the steering wheel gets in the way. There are only a couple knobs though so I haven't had an issue operating it without looking at it. I like that it's out of the way and easy to reach.

    I live at the edge of Las Vegas where the terrain is pretty favorable and I regularly pickup people 10+ miles away. Last week on the way to the grocery store I picked up a guy on a mountain in Arizona that was 80 something miles away.

    I have a Cobra 19 DXIV mounted under the coin tray, and a 3ft Firestik mounted to my tail light cage.

    I have a soft tonneau, so my mounting options were pretty limited with the antenna. image.jpgimage.jpg

    a wilson 4' will get you better gain and is more flexible than the firestik

    Yes I ran a Wilson 1000 magnet mount for years and worked great. But my job requires some back roads , always getting knocked off

    Well I made two different antenna mounts to go on my tool box . Couldn't get low enough SW with first one. So settled on this one

    Well I was having SW problems so I grounded tool box. Trying to create a ground plain since these composite beds don't have any metal in and actually brought SW down .2.
