    Just picked mine up for $238 w/ tax and everything. I love it, though I did pretty much by it for form over function (aka I won't use it much I just wanted the look) so there may be better and more practical options

    Set your ISO lower. If you're in bright light outdoors, drop down to ISO 100 or so. Higher ISO leads to higher graininess. Generally, set your ISO as low as you can for the light conditions. If there isn't movement in the shot and you have a tripod, you can trade iso for time (ie, a 1/64 shot at a lower iso will generally look better than a faster shot at a higher iso, if no-one is walking around and your hands aren't shaking).

    Set your image quality to superfine/100%/whatever your camera calls it.

    Generally aim for the middle of the f-stop range on your lens. f/9 is usually a good bet. Going to either extreme will expose the flaws in lens, though that would show up as blurriness or color shifts around the edges (chromatic aberration) instead of graininess.

    If you want to get more serious about it, you'd want to shoot in raw - but that usually needs special software to edit. With raw, you can fix color and exposure with a lot more flexibility than with jpg, but you have to edit and convert the images to use them elsewhere.

    This was my first time out to Trees Ranch. I had to pull the winch out on about half the trails we ran. The dry rock had silt on the surface making for very slippery conditions. They say it's nearly impossible when wet.
