So my clutch pedal has decided to suddenly fail.
Feels disconnected, like there's no resistance when I push down and it doesn't spring back with much force or at all. At the very bottom of travel there is some resistance and it won't travel all the way to contact the switch, so I have to override or manually push the switch with my finger to start the truck. And the truck won't go into gear even with the pedal completely depressed.

No symptoms leading up to this, just got in and went to press the clutch and go this afternoon. Had just driven the truck 15 minutes earlier.

Good news is it's parked in my driveway at home and not stranding me out on the highway.

Going back out to troubleshoot before calling a tow truck. Any tacomaworld wisdom would be appreciated.

EDIT: Sounds like the same issue: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/clutch-pedal-broke-yesterday.155168/

Looks like there's a broken piece of plastic between the pedal and the piston. Any willing to crawl under the dash and show me what a working clutch pedal looks like for comparison?

Just saw your post. The post you're referring to is mine. I've had 2 clutch pedals break like that. Supposedly this new 3rd one is a revised pedal assembly. That little plastic cup that the piston contacts broke both times, causing the plastic where the cup resta to also crack & break. Prior to breakage, I was having clicking & creakinf noises. My new revised pedal is making same noises again. I can crawl under my dash in the morning & snap a shot for you.

Thanks, I'd appreciate a pic of what it's supposed to look like. Haven't found a pic on google yet that shows me that exact part of the clutch pedal assembly.

No creaking or other abnormal sounds in my case. My clutch pedal has always creaked a bit in really hot weather, but hasn't been hot enough to hear it in several weeks.

Planning to tow it in to the dealer first thing in the morning to hopefully get it fixed before the weekend. Trying to figure out if this should fall under my 100,000 mile "comprehensive" warranty. The dealership guy on the phone seemed to think it wouldn't since the clutch is a wear item. But, the clutch pedal isn't the clutch.

I don't see how they can weasel out of not fixing that under warranty.

Just took this under my dash. Hope it helps. Both my broken clutch pedals were replaced under warranty.

Thanks, I think I see what's different on yours. Looks like there's a plastic part that missing/broken (didn't see any pieces laying on the floor) which is causing the pedal lever to not drive the piston all the way down. The confusing thing is that there is also something limiting the downward travel of the pedal cause it won't all the way down to engage the electronic switch at the bottom.

Anyways, dealer is looking at it today (so I can't crawl under and inspect it anymore). Hoping they don't try to tell me the pedal assembly itself is a "wear item" and not cover it.

Supposedly my newest (3rd) clutch pedal is the TSB pedal that has been redesigned. At least that's what they told me. It was replaced about 3 years ago.

I am hoping the same thing about my 15. The only thing I don't care for in mine is how high up the clutch catches, it is all the way at the top.

I thought the same thing when I first got my truck, mostly adapted to it by now. But other clutches I've used engage lower to the floor and more smoothly overall.

The grap point is adjustable. There is a jamb nut on the rod that you loosen and the turn the larger 4 sided nut to shorten the rod length. Start with 2 turns, try it (just have to start the truck and see how it grabs in 1st and reverse), adjust it more if needed and then lock the jamb nut against the 4 sided nut without turning the 4 sided nut. I adjusted mine as soon as I bought it back in '13 and again after the squeaky pedal TSB was done.

Entire clutch pedal assembly replaced under warranty. Gonna buy a spare 31404-04010 clevis part and keep it on hand in case the next time it breaks out on a trail instead of conveniently in my driveway.
