    Well Toyota has problems:
    1. Release date 9/10/15 - Online Build not available - Reason Toyota wants to sell out 2015 that is already made BUT the other reasons from California sales people is : Some options are still not working properly and Toyota cant put them in trucks yet, since they might eliminate or delay release of certain models.
    2. Online build is also crappy now with no options to add since they are eliminating colors and options of 2015
    3. EAST COAST and NY...well even West Coast : No sales people training - even though in California there were several dealerships getting some teaser new ones in, the sales force is not trained: Sample questions I asked and their answers were : we have no idea:
    • which option comes with heated seats? - no idea
    • will remote start be factory or dealer installed IF available? - no idea
    • will roof rack be factory or dealer installed? - no idea
    • will heated seats be available for non leather? -no idea
    • is the limited available with only 18 inch tires or other options? - no idea
    • is the new cloth seat water proof like the previous years that made it into a cool commercial too as a marketing add (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaxDKSYoGTY .... answer is - NO IDEA
Now I did go to about 20 dealers in the west coast and east coast, and the only answer I was able to get from them : I have No Idea.

It is a shame that Toyota does not train them or that it does not give them info AT ALL!. I am hoping that someone from toyota reads this too and maybe cares to comment

In any case online you cant build one YET, maybe in 2 months, the current online build of 2015 has a lot of UNAVAILABE or Sold out , can't select options.

The few managers that either lied or commented were consistent though : Some options are still not working properly and Toyota cant put them in trucks yet, since they might eliminate or delay release of certain models and certain options.
Now why a company release a car if you cant build online or if the options are not available or if those options that don't work will be eliminated. ??? Does that also means that the few released with those options that don't work properly will be a huge headache for those that bought them, since servicing items that are not OFFICIALLY in the design can be a hassle or problematic for the owners - we don't want another GM type problem that causes death by ignition switch.

    MY BIGGEST COMPLAIN IS:
Toyota relies on untrained sales people to sell the cars, but NEWSFLASH : reputation will only get you so far, before you need reliable sales people that have INFORMATION!

I love the truck, but I Have an issue with the service and Info and the way Toyota is releasing this truck.

Again this is not from one dealer, I checked about 20, pretty sad for such a High Hope (and nice ) Truck

OOOOOO I forgot to say: the website lack of info is terrible. GM gave all info out well in advance about the Colorado/canyon ....too bad Toyota is slacking

Some of your questions can be answered by searching through this forum. Meanwhile, new owners are driving their trucks.

I've spoke with a half dozen different dealers and have to say your experience mirrors mine. Some salesmen were smart enough and considerate enough to disclose their lack of knowledge on the product right up front. Though many tried to start talking about things which they clearly had no clue on...and then would stumble on words as I corrected their assertions. I don't think Toyota is the only brand with these types of issues. Some sales employees I talked with said they're going to be getting training in October. Fact of the matter these days with online information the consumer who is willing to research, often knows more than the average car salesman. I've experienced these "lack of knowledge" issues when buying a home as well. Many time sales folks are focused on the completion of a sale and not very informed or tactful on the way to get you there.

Yeah I don't think they really care. They will show up on lots and people will buy them.

I would love to know who the genius was that decided that they were not going to bother building any of the premium and tech packages into trucks in the entire mid atlantic? This is why my truck will take 4-6 months. I actually like the wait as it will hopefully allow any initial issues to be flushed out. But still its a new package never offered on a new truck . What model would they use to reach that decision?

SO why not put the live online tool up??? you got the TUNDRA up for over a month...Add the problematic options if they keep them later on...At least give out official option package online so people don't have to search 5000 forums to find out which package has remote start or heated seat, OR just say that those are all dealer options, unless the dealer service people are as untrained as the sales folks....frustrating, but it is more frustrating that even if you find those options on the forum after reading all that those might be taken out by Toyota because they are not full real options ( hence it would explain why the online tool is not ready)
It is well over a week since release and folks drive them, and since the sales team and marketing team are too busy "screwing the pooch" , the least Toyota could do is release the option package info even without the official build.....
    hmmmmm

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9_8YxDQYCo

Oh and the problems were :
    • sunroof not (initialized and rattle -- real problem was that the cases that came off the factory line had several drain tubes missing which would of caused water inside the car, and if those seats are not the same water proof items anymore mold will get to develop, hence my question to them about the seats )
    • daytime running light led option was not all working( no idea why - could be dodgy assembly)
    • touchscreen option were malfunctioning (something about apps not configured some screens went black)
These were a few from the dealers I spoke with, but they were saying some packages have options that wont be in the final packages too......
It is too frustrating to see all these problems so early, and again the web tool....lol....did I mention the web for them is terrible....lol

And I didn't even address the production delays....they are hiring to make up for demand but those folks wont work for a year since they get to be trained first...so the ones working now will work fast and hard making mistakes, leading to PROBLEMS with our new truck.....ugggggghhhh
love the truck, hate Toyota now though :(

The dealers again do not have a clue! Corporate is tight-lipped. Dealers know about the problems but know nothing about the product??? right!

I was told its allocation only and there is nothing coming to allocate with it for the foreseeable future. Is yours a limited (With it build in) or are you adding it to one of the TRDs? Mine is a TRD offroad.

This just serves as another reason why I am waiting for a end of the year 2016 or begining of the year 2017 tacoma. I suspect there will be more bugs found and maybe even recalls. The touchscreen issue is really ugly

    great reporting.

The less a salesman knows, the more you can shame them into selling you the truck for less

Same problems during new model releases with other brands. The reality is that there are too many models and options for a sales guy to understand everything.

I wound up giving a "class" to 2 sales guys when I was inquiring about a 2016 Land Cruiser last week. Guys were clueless and I have taken my business elsewhere.
