My GPS will not let me search for POI or anything while truck is moving. I hate that cause I usually have a copilot I know somebody has figured this out. I did a search on the forum for it before posting couldn't find anything.

My 2014 Electra Glide has GPS and it's the same way. You can do anything like look through your contacts on your phone and all sorts of crap but not the GPS, what's the difference? I think it's the GPS programmer that locked it out. I'll do some digging, maybe I can figure out something.

If I remember right, the disable signal is fed by the speed pulse wire. The wire that tells the radio how fast the truck is moving.
You can wire in a switch to temporarily turn off the speed pulse (making the truck think it's stopped) while programming.
The GPS does need the pulse for accurate nav so it needs to be turned on again.

A very cool company is vaistech. They have a nav/DVD lockout for the tacomas. Just got release less than a year ago. It's awsome. Have used it in other Lexus and toyotas too. Nice thing about it is NO switches. Uses your steering wheel controls. Unlocks poi on nav bt audio functions and phone book and keypad options. Worth in my opinion spending the little money to do this instead of using an am switch and trying to fool the vehicle and throwing the calibration/location off. Just my .02

I have used it. works well vehicles that its compatible with. ALL of their product is top notch just like their tech support and customer service. their techs will walk you thru any ?s or concerns. their specialty is Toyota and lexus only. stumbled across their product about 8-9 years ago. what I like about their product for the nav lockout is that they are the only ones that you don't have to use a switch. other companies you have to use their horrible built in BIG switches (usually 2) or your own...NOT vais
