    so..
Here is very easy steps to do that..

    * Tacoma Vehicle DIAGRAM
    with added (BLACK) switch.
-Turn OFF the switch, passenger be able to use NAV (GPS) while car in motion,
Then when NAV (GPS) ready to navigate turn it back (the switch) to ON position.
*otherwise GPS-signal losing the following arrow on the map and recalculating every intersection.

    * Just CUT that (Purple/White) wire and add ON/OFF switch.

    I used "Rocker DC" Switch.

its just break/park sensor same as been on toyota and lexus for at least 10 years i know of, as long as its thinks your in park or have emergency break on it allows, you can even push e-break just a tad on most to unlock. on toyotas i ripped nav out and put the lexus one so not sure on the new ones which wire it is but if you supply ground to the sensor wire it does same thing, unless they changes something i do not know about

    cheers,

    * Just CUT that (Purple/White) wire and we DONE.

And if you're afraid of cutting that wire. I recommend just removing the pin and isolating it with a tape or something. So you can always put it back.

Garmin Eco-Route HD for Bluetooth ODBII Diagnostics, 2014 Entune Plus w Navigation, Leer 100XL dome light wired to dome circuit, pop&lock tailgate and cap locks.
This wire has more than one function

    1. Once vehicle speed is over 3mph, certain HU functions are locked out
    2. It is an input to GPS location (along with satellite signal). Obviously the satellite signal is what provides the GPS info, but the speed signal is used.

Cutting this wire will impact GPS tracking accuracy in some instances. By cutting this wire, the HU will now think vehicle is going under 3 mph. This may impact tracking on the GPS screen. Vehicle may appear "off-route" or other inaccuracies.

Ideally you would want to route it through a switch, turn it off, turn it on. Also it's not a constant signal, it is a "pulse".

    "Ask me how I know"....

The wiring schematics show this connection. For anyone doing anything electrical, you should be referencing these schematics. Pay your 2 day subscription fee, and download as many as you want....

Parking brake input is not present on Tacoma 2013/14 Head Units. Cannot speak for other years. The only vehicle input that controls HU lockout is the SPD wire. Like the OP, I reviewed all the wiring diagrams before upgrading my 2013 HU to a 2014 HU. I have no connection to my parking brake. I can provide the pinout and wires for anyone interested. Actually, it is another post already. The SVG diagrams should really be made available somewhere for others to view. Might be some Toyota copyright infringement issues, though.

I snipped the wire and the bypass worked but as the poster mentions above, the gps thinks I am still at home and not tracking
My location. Can I strip the wire and tape it back together?

Yes, just tape it back together. Solder and heat shrink would be better.

I cannot speak to every Toyota NAV HU, or really to anything beyond the 2014 Nav HU I have, but the SPD signal wire is used in tracking. What exactly the impact is will depend on your unit...

On your unit, it seems the GPS now thought you were stationary (or below 3mph, anyway).

Actually, it is pretty great. What would suck would be if you had already cut it.

I imagine there will be people that don't read past the OP and they will be pissed.
