    How's it going TW folks?

Just joined this forum and am looking to get some advice on my truck. I just put a down payment on a 2010 Tacoma w/ a Double Cab and Long bed. It has a V6 and 4WD, roughly 75,000 miles and drives phenomenally well! I want to make this truck last for as long as I possibly can. As a new Tacoma owner what are the regular maintenance things I should keep up with and how often? What will I need to start changing my oil myself? And if there are any New Englanders on the forums: What are the ways I can mitigate the long-term affects of rust to my truck or to combat rusting in the winter?

Thanks in advance for your help, I'm stoked to be a part of the Tacoma World!

Welcome - there is A LOT of information, opinions, and technical data here. I'd search around first (top right corner) and you will find regional forums as well as just about everything else. Enjoy your truck and post a picture. I've learned more from seeing the builds of others - it really help define what you want to do. Good luck!

Used to live in Derry. With the road salt, Rust is alway a concern. Powerwashing the undercarriage at a coin op car wash helps to keep the salt off. Also, my grandfather used to spray motoroil on the undercarage and inside the frame rails before each winter season. He did it with a garden sprayer. Smelled like burning oil for about a week after but kept the rust away. Another option is to move to the southwest. No salt down here. :p

They're brand new from the dealer so I'm not getting rid of them quite yet but what would you recommend as a good mid-ground on-road/off-road tire?

Also if I were you I would go and buy some 75w90 mobile one gear oil full synthetic and change your front and rear differential and the transfer case. I just did mine like 2 weeks ago and it cost me around $80 for all the fluid. My truck has 43k on it! But I didn't know when the previous owner did it so I figured I must well do it and I know when it's changed!

A link on how it's done, it's super easy to do!!!

    Welcome! Awesome truck, congrats!
To answer your question on preventive maintenance on rust here in NH/VT/ME -
power wash it & either fluid film, oil undercoat, POR15.
Winter time power wash it religiously when temps permit.
It abates the rust but it is difficult to stop it.
That is why so Toyota dealers have a dedicated bay for frame replacements etc.
Read up on that here, you will see.
I had my 2013 truck treated before I hit any salty road.
As far as the tires, not sure if where you are in NH.
I ditched my new dunlops on my 2006 for a snowflake-rated AT tire Goodyear Silent Armors.
On my 2013 I run dedicated winter tires.
The back end is super light and the ABS super touchy.
Add those two things with our road conditions & the Dunlops will not be pretty.
Many members here use Goodyear Duratracs, Michelin LTX M&S, Hankcook Dynapro ATM, Cooper Discover AT3.
Have fun your truck look great.

Those are 17", what are the size on the truck. Kinda look like 16". Those are 10ply and u defiantly dont need that heavy of a tire unless u want to loose a few miles to the gallon.....
