Anybody hear anything about Rack Doctor yet? I haven't had any response to my email/phone messages about getting a new rack.

Hmmmmm, I've read that the rear O2 sensor and front O2 sensor need to communicate. Something to do with the front sensor recalibrating itself every so often?

Not that im aware of. Its possible that Toyota put some programming in the ECU to use the secondary O2 for fuel control, but unlikely. The OBD2 standard calls for the rear sensor to only monitor remaining O2 in the exiting exhaust gases. It does communicate in a one way sense in that it needs the downstream sensor to NOT approach the rich/lean waveform of the upstream sensor, usually outside of 90% of what the upstream sensor is communicating to the ECU. It basically wants a dead line to be read from the downstream O2, this shows it is using all the available O2 to recombine with the HC and CO in the catalytic (NOx is reduced using the excess CO in the secondary bed). The one thing the downstream O2 does is feed into the ECUs logic system to trigger a CEL and P0420 code when it passes certain thresholds for the mentioned waveform approaching the upstream waveform for a set period of time.

Sorry for long response, its 130am and a box of wine deep.

Need some input. I'm not sure if it's carbon fouling, deposits, oil or a combination. Would it indicate bad piston rings? Head gasket? Clogged EGR? They're arranged L to R, cylinders 1 to 4. I'm assuming it gets worse the farther back you go because of engine cooling is reduced. But again, I'm not sure.

I probably should have posted this in the 2nd gen section. :luvya:
