Hi. I've been considering a new vehicle for a while now. I wanted a Jetta TDI for years then I found a need for a truck around the house. So I have been obsessed with a blue DC manual transmission 2nd gen for awhile.

One finally popped up on craigslist. After a few emails I found some interesting info about this truck. It is a 2011 DCSB, 4x4 TRD Sport, manual, 31k miles, is from Vermont, and has rust. The body looks great which is unusual. I'm from the south so rust was certainly unexpected as the ad didn't mention it was from Vermont, or the rust.

Should I pass this up or make a lower offer and fix the rust, as per this thread?

I'm waiting on the VIN number; the seller says it's clean. Sounds like it sits more than it's driven; it may be an older gentlemen selling it.

The truck definatly looks nice! and low miles is a +. But that rust does throw me off a little too.

The rust looks minor compared to what we get up here. Looks like a nice truck to me

No kidding, that little of rust isn't going to hurt a thing.

It was a letdown to see these pictures. I was ready for the guy to take my money.

This forum is awesome how it alerts me on any page that a someone replied to my thread. And I can quote by highlighting text. Super bad.

If you have money to replace those items way way way down the road, and the deal is good, go for it. I have plenty of rust just lik that, but I'm not worried about it. I'll have years before I need to.

After 3 or so winters in New England most trucks look like that. I wouldn't even think twice about it and go for it if the price is right.

I have a ton more rust than that, my frame is considered solid. Based on your photos, I would say trucks up here would look like that after three winters.

edit: just looked at the pics again. What I can see of the frame looks great

I'd jump on it. What is his asking price?

Asking price is $28k, KBB very good. After taking with the misses $25k is what were comfortable with. We're not used to seeing rust unless a car is pretty old.

I'll check it out next week when the guy is available.

28 is pretty premium in my opinion. I think 25K is a much better price.

I'm going to pass on this due to my past luck with used cars. Anyways, here's my current daily for your viewing pleasure. I've tried selling it to buy me a Taco but no one wants it, so I'll keep it.
