Just wondering will a dirtbike fit comfortably on the back of a 5ft taco tub or will I need to get a 6ft tub? Also do the stock tie down points work ok or will in need additional tie down points?
    Thanks
    Paul

It will fit on an angle and maybe the tailgate down. The stock tie downs or bed cleats work fine.

Might fit on an angle with the gate up, depending on the bike size. Make sure your rail tie downs are tight before you drive away and lose it!

I've had both a CR250R and a CRF250R in my 6 ft bed. Both had to be at an angle to close the gate in the 6ft bed and it was pretty tight so no way they'd fit in a 5 ft bed with the gate up. If you're talking a 125cc or smaller it may go in a 5ft bed but I'd test fit it if it really matters.

I usually leave my gate down and strap in anything loose. You could always add a bed extender but I don't use one cause it'd be in the way if I wasn't using it (hauling plywood, etc).

Looks good, how does the tail gate hold up with the rear wheel sitting on it like that, any issues? Ill buy a 6ft if I can find one but good to know a full size bike can be transported in a 5ft'er
    Thanks

No mud flaps, plasti dipped emblems, and rear bumper, Weather tech digital fit, Bed mat from tractor supply. Pioneer 4400BH head unit. B.A.M.F bed rail tie downs. AVS vent visors.
ya they will fit with the tail gate down. get a bed extender.

also IMO get the B.A.M.F bed rail tie downs, much stronger then the OEM ones and they don’t flex at all when ratcheting the bike down. Well worth the $71 shipped.

I have a DRZ400, it fit in fine but would never get the tailgate up. It would be a lot better with 2 more D rings in the front but the side rails worked for the short trip.

I have fit two full size dirt bikes in mine. DRZ400 and a WR426. Tailgate down, they fit no problem.

I recently bought these straps and they are amazing. Highly recommend them.

My YZ250 and CR125 in the back... I've also been able to put my pit bike in backwards between the 2 big bikes... don't have a pic of that though.

yeah, i put my big sportbikes in the back, just be careful with the tie down cleats. the rails will flex on you depending how hard you strap it in, and ALWAYS double check the cleats are tight, I've had mine work loose on long roadtrips with my bike strapped in.

I carry my KLX250s in my DCSB with tailgate down using 4 tiedown points. I strongly suggest doing the D-Ring mod and not rely on the bedrails. I have 2 ratchet straps in the front with caribiner ends instead of S-hooks to prevent them from unhooking when the front forks compress.

Here's my CR250 in my 6 foot bed. As you can see, the back wheel doesn't rest on the tailgate.
I installed extra D-rings in the front of the bed since the adjustable tie down brackets on the bed rails flex and feel flimsy when I crank the ratchet straps down.

It will fit in a 5ft but wont be able to close the tailgate. I'd suggest adding extra D-rings to the front and middle of the bed...its a cheap mod to do and really easy and they are rock solid. The bed cleats will work to but I just dont trust them that much cause they arent that solid.

Here is mine and I've had 2 bikes in the back before as well. Not much room for other stuff but if its just a day at the tracks then you'll be fine.

Exactly! Tail gate down on short bed, bike at angle and tail gate closed on long bed.

Got both my bikes in there right now, 3 day weekend coming!!!

I have had 3 full size dirtbikes in the bed on my dcsb ... no issues other than being tight. Even with the 6ft bed on a big bike its just eaiser to leave the tailgate down and the bike straight.
