    So to confirm, the U-bolts should be tightened to double the factory recommendation? I have zero experience in this area?

    Mine were super loose too. That's not all. tightened my cross member bolts and the cab mounts and now my front end doesn't clunk anymore when I turn sharp left or flex the truck even slightly (in or out of my sloped driveway)

    And I would argue 37 is a long way from correct...Toyota is not infallible.
    Anyway, that's why I provided a link to 4WD's thread on the subject...
    Do some reading and come to your own conclusion.:)

    I'm not talking U joints. I've never heard of re-torquing crossmember bolts or cab mounts. That shit should come tight from the factory and stay tight.

    It was in there for 2nd gen as well.

    The torques on these are computer controlled. If the gun faults out, crossthreads, slips off or anything that causes the torque to not be achieved, the alarm goes off and the line stops until a Team leader (me) makes the repair and documents it.
    Maybe after some miles are put on the springs they compress enough that you can tighten down more.
