Has anyone installed a temp sensor in a Tacoma that does not already have one? I have the overhead console already, and it has lights, garage door opener and sunglasses holder.

    06 Tacoma Access cab.

could get a Tacoma sensor OEM from the dealer right?

Fairly mechanical, willing to adapt a Tundra sensor, or other vehicle sensor.

    Thanks guys!

I had searched before posting, but I think I was too specific with key words.

    Dang!
do you happen to know what changed? or where I might get that info? I just received a broken compass/temp gage from a fell TW member but he has a 06 taco, and I'm 09. I'm trying to fix it, but if there is no hope in hell that I can mod it to work with my rig then I'll stop wasting my time.

Sorry, i am not sure if its an added wire, swapped wiring, or a connector issue.
Just regurgitated what i heard for years.

If your crafty, you may be able to figure out things this way.....

Get a toyota tss subscription, get wiring diagram for the compass console on the 09, and print it out. Do the same for 2005.

See what is what.... even if its a connector issue, id bet theres a way to find a number on the correct connector and then u could retrofit the harness.

I dunno, ive been awake all night so this could look like jibberish even to myself later :)

Worst case, resell the 1 u got.

    appreciate the response,
it was bro-given to me, so I'd like to do the same if its not worth it.

I have been meaning to get a TSS Sub for a while now, this may just make me do it!

also upon some closer looking and reflection, this board has been beaten on with some gorilla hands! the SMD resistor is gone, some of the solder pads look burnt ( not sure if they are even usable at this point ) and I think they have the wrong value resistors in there.

this is looking more and more like a lost cause for this board. If I do magically get it working and figure out the change, then I'll post it here, otherwise have a great weekend
