    Yes. I'm not quite sure why this is still being discussed. Swap your OEM TPMS to your new wheels and everything will be fine!

    It's still being discussed because not all rims accept the tpms modules so no, you
    won't be fine if you just swap them into any wheel.

    There must be a small minority of wheel manufacturers that don't accept the OEM TPMS. Almost everyone on here who has installed aftermarket wheels didn't have to use an aftermarket TPMS.

    good to know. I've seen a few that said it's not working or I'll put tape over the blinking light.

    Even OEM wheels can have problems with OEM TPMS.

    Couldn't agree more, what did we all do before TPMS was forced into our lives? Does any vehicle come with an electronic dipstick yet, I am tired of checking that thing manually. Next thing you know we will have self driving cars.

    Starting over.......
    I had hoped Toyota would move to a TPMS system that would hold two sets of sensors in the configuration or auto learn to ease the winter summer swap like many other manufacturers offer.

    The "clone" sensors are still a bit of a black art to many tire shops. It looks like the pressurized ABS tube is still a good option, at least my spare is monitored and I can check the others with a gauge.

    What happens when you rotate yer tires... now the sensors are on a different wheel but the ECU still thinks they are where they were from the factory?... If ya get a low reading on the RR, then it's likely the RF...Right..????

    Georgia requires emissions testing in metro-Atlanta counties and they do not fail you for a TPMS light. They are looking at emissions results only. Not sure about states like North Carolina that also do a "safety inspection" in addition to emissions.

    Very true, I had clones from a vendor here that just would not sync up on my 2011.

    It's reading psi in tire so it doesn't matter how you rotate your tires or where to on truck. Yes? Someone post pic of this please my sensors are off truck. Thanks. It's easier to understand with pic yes.

    I guess you didn't know that the '16 Tacoma shows a heads up display indicating pressure in each tire... if you rotate the sensors, the ECU will show them in the wring position...

    Each sensor has an ID code. When the tire is rotated the ECU recalibrates to recognize the new location with a built in antenna.

    FAQ via Tirerack:
    Do I need to get my sensors re-registered after a simple tire rotation?
    Answer: Some systems that display the tire pressure at each location require a sensor re-learn procedure to be done after the tires have been moved to a different corner of the vehicle. But others use antennas in the vehicle’s wheel well to “see” where the old wheel moved.
    If the sensor with the ID code of 1234567 was at the left-rear location, but now the left-front TPMS antenna is reading that 1234567 ID code, then the system will update its TPMS display to correctly show the wheels and the tire pressures at their new locations. The most common system only displays a “Low Pressure” light on the dash and those systems normally don’t need to be reset when a tire rotation has been done. You may want to consult the 2007 Mitchell1 TPMS Guide for a specific answer concerning a TPMS-equipped vehicle.

    Oh, well it's all to no avail anyway.... I just put on my winter Michelins (no sensors) and the tires with the sensor thingies go into the garage..... I've got to get out the Black electric tape and cover the stupid light.... Geese... I wish there was a way to deep 6 this stupid system...!! I've used a tire gauge for 50 yrs. and never had a problem... I'm not about to now either...TPMS or not..
