After scouring the forum without luck i am hoping to find a solution to my problem as, apparently, my dealer has run out of ideas.
    Quick background ...
I have a '05 V6 automatic 4x4 Off-Road with 172,000 kms (107,000 miles). Great truck. A few weeks ago i started hearing a metallic 'click' noise mostly when i have the wheel turned harder to the right and moving slowly ... like when backing into a parking stall. It will make the noise also going forward and also to the left ... sometimes even when the wheel is fairly straight. I don't hear it when moving beyond a crawl but it may be there too. It is fairly loud and it isn't in sync with the wheel rotation speed. I am having difficulty in locating where the noise is coming from.
    Now the fun part ...
I booked an appointment with my dealer and after looking at it the tech said that he could not duplicate the noise but thought that it was due to the right side wheel bearings being worn. He replaced the hub assembly.
    Noise still there.
He then replaced the right side cv axle.
    Noise still there.
He then replaced both front brake calipers and pads (although they were replaced less than 20,000 kms / 12,000 miles ago!)
    Noise still there.
I found out that the reason he could not duplicate the noise the first time was that when he test drove the truck he turned the wheel to the right and then accelerated back and forth. I am guessing that with the extra force exerted on all the moving parts the noise doesn't occur.
The service manager as well as the general manager are on holiday ... the service advisor is doing his best and i am losing faith fast in the service techs at this dealership.
Any ideas of where i should be looking?

Yikes.. I sure hope you aren't paying for the parts and labor they are throwing at your truck. If they used a chassis ear like any good service department does they would find the noise on the first test drive.

I am guessing that a 'chassis ear' is a stethoscope-type gadget? Can they use this chassis ear while the vehicle is moving?
So far, i was charged $860 CDN w/tax ($650 US) for the hub assembly ... $0 for the cv axle and $0 for the brake calipers.

$650 for a hub assembly? Stealership prices :facepalm:That should be under $200.

Gotta remember that 13% sales tax in BC. US$575 + US$75 in tax, but still way too high in price.

Do you have larger tires and different offset wheels? (On mobile, no signatures to view). My "clicking" sound at full lock was the tire catching a raised corner of my fender liner. Could only hear it going slow in parking lots, and at full lock.

Sorry for the confusion ... that was $650 installed.

parts ..... $340 (hub sub assembly, flange bolts, bearing, o-ring, spacer and oil seal)
    labour ... $240
    tax ....... $70 (12% in BC)
    total ..... $650

I have the wheels and tires from a 2014 Tacoma on my truck ... no lift or modifications.

Still looking for ideas on the 'click' noise if anyone has one.

I had a clicking noise once. Drum shoes were catching and releasing. Only audible at low speeds.

    Hi Tor,
Although i am having trouble pinpointing the source of the click that i am hearing it definitely seems to be coming from the front of the truck.
