In my Tundra, I cut out a piece of plastic to match the seatbelt clip. I only did this when I was putting items on my passengers seat, as the damn alarm would always go off. That fixed the problem.

But doesn't that affect the operation of the air bags?

Take a breath,... then pull your head out of your ass and think for one second about how it is not all about you. Sometimes shit happens even when you are doing everything properly.

Actually, I'd argue that the "stupid" requirement is the one that says motorcycle operators don't need to wear helmet! With that, it's your life. Not my place to judge.

Oh, and I should mention that I need to turn off my damned seat belt alarm as well. I bought my truck, in part, to work my fence line and deal with other farm related stuff. Move forward a few feet and that stupid alarm won't stop. Pain in the ears not to mention adding to my frustration while searching for loose livestock.

Here's a good little story about wearing seat belts.

Got into a pretty bad accident going about 45mph. Had my seat belt on - it saved my life (2nd time too). Anyway the seat belt actually caused an injury to me - ripped a tear in my aorta, developed a blood clot ended up in the ICU for 4 days. They saved me...

Moral of the story - I STILL WEAR MY SAFETY BELT and so should everyone.

I still have the tear - my next accident most likely WILL kill me. One reason I bought a 2016 Tacoma, its a truck and should help save me but there's no certainties (other than change) in life that's for sure.

There's no excuse for not wearing a belt, really. The choice YOU make affects everyone around you, even the person that runs into you and kills you in a wreck. Most important is your family and how your choices affect them. If you have children you are setting a VERY bad example.

My belief is that if you cannot wear a belt, you should not be in a car or truck AND your a butt-hole (.)

It's a national safety LAW (all 50 states required to follow) and for a good reason - it's called head and chest trauma causing unnecessary death.

i take mine off when i go onto the lake to go ice fishing...having one on while out there, is just dumb. otherwise...as a former flight medic, i never saw a dead person pulled from a seatbelt that was worn. lots of dead people from no seatbelts...but the choice should be yours.

STUPID reply. On ranches in Texas we have no use for them. I disconnected the driver side under the seat. I once tboned a lady at 35 mph in my f150 that had run a stop sign and walked away uninjured. Totaled both vehicles and hers was almost new. I was glad to have the belt on and never drive on public roads without it. I do not need a stupid beep to remind me to put it on. They should have a time limit on them.

No. I think wearing your seat belt is a very smart thing to do.

Sounds like the state you live in wins the most Darwin awards.

Sounds like you were pretty lucky.

I did a ride along with an blanc a few days ago. The paramedic was telling me about a call when two cars hit head on in a 30 zone. The unrestrained driver shot up out of his seat and hit the roof and wind shield with his head snapping his neck. Seat belt would have pretty much prevented that.

Just because one accident you were able to walk away from doesn't mean that will happen with all of them.
