    Thanks much brother, feedback very much appreciated. I'm not stuck on Alpine btw, mostly only ever used their HU and the best speakers I've ever put in any car were Focal. I'm no audiophile by any means and rarely really listen to music while I'm driving and if I do it's pretty low, I like to hear whats going on around me. But for the times when I hear something where I feel the need to bleed form my ears - Opening riff in Dire Straights 'money for nothing' I like the neighbours in the next suburb to hear my appreciation.

    I'm confused, when I google images for the rear seat compartment I see the following:

    The one that you posted a picture of has the JBL package with the JBL Sub from the factory.

    Mine used to look just like that. Just pulled the plastic panels off and removed the JBL crap in order to fit better stuff!

    Just curious if you guys are using the OEM head unit? If so, what are you using for a signal to input into the amp? Hi-lo converter or something else (signal processor?)? I want to add a sub/amp combo and keep the OEM head unit, but when I did installs before (it has been about 7years since I have done anything audio related) I wasn't happy with the hi-lo converters.

    Yeah you need to get a good Hi-low converter to get good results without noise etc. Summation also makes life better

    Its not really that hard, the Shape is the same but only a couple dimensions will vary. For example i built a box for a guy with a small back rest mod which allowed us an easy 5 inches at the top depth and 8 inches on the bottom.

    Others seem to run around 3.5-4inches at the top at 7 at the bottom. You can also reference some of the pre made boxes dimentions on eBay ;)

    I remember looking at subwoofer boxes on Ebay, and they were a lot less expensive than the JL-Audio equivalent. As for build quality i cant say. but it's worth a look. Have a look at this link here, as you can see, there are a few configurations to choose from, or draw inspiration from. I didn't buy anything when i was looking because i wasn't ready to pull the trigger yet on upgrading my stereo system in my tacoma. Let me know if this is useful to you?

    This boxes dimensions are solid, if yo take the plastic off the rear seat you can stretch the 7.5 to 8 and the top 4 to 4.5. Build out of 1/2 birch ply and use 2 wooden dowls to brace the front baffle to the rear. If you want, you can use 3/4 on the front baffle and router the 3/4 down 1/4 for a little more protection.

    If your going ALL out, Build the Entire box out of 1/2 birch ply, counter the full radious of the sub out, counter sink by 1/2 inch. for example then, for 10 inch subs, router 10 inch hole, On another random piece of wood, router out the mounting hole, and a 13 inch outer. Glue that to the back of your baffle for low space taking counter sunk

    I'm using the OEM HU and currently installing an LC2i by AudioControl for 1 12" sub. I'll post up some pics and summary of sound quality once it's completed.
