It certainly was a temporary fix. Surprisingly, many tell me they can't believe it's rattle can, because there is no streaking or splotching. (I did like seven coats.) I know it won't last forever. I do, however, enjoy how easy it is to make new scratches disappear! :D Little paint, little clear, bam!
I would eventually like to bedline the whole truck, that would be extremely durable/scratch resistant. Which would be perfect for my uses.

You really think spray paint is going to hold up as good as bedliner? I've seen other pics and its a little spotty. I'm not saying it doesn't look bad, it actually looks pretty decent for spray paint.

Good job with the rattlecan. Next time, buy your paint in large quantity and purchase a paint gun. It will cost slightly less than a rattle-can job and be more even. Your rattle-canning looks fantastic though, well done.

As far as function goes, you can get just as durable and rust-preventing a paint job by going cheap as you can by hiring professionals to spray it. The only difference is appearance. If the professionals know what they are doing and no one that works at the shop wears cologne or is on their period you will get no fishscales, that is the difference. As for durability, you'll get 50 million scratches through your clear coat before that even comes into question between the cheap DIY rustoleum job and the professional shop job.

Eh ya I guess. Just to me its like using spacer lifts. It's the wrong way to do things, but people do it just cause its cheaper. I get what you all are saying though.

Nah spacer lifts can be dangerous and dont preform well. His paint job looks great and will be just fine as long as it was prepped well. Probably better than some "professional" paint jobs.

I can only think of six on the top of my head.

    One for the front U-Joint
    One for the rear U-Joint
    One for the Slip Joint
    Three for the Double Carden

Don't miss the third in the double carden, it's pretty well hidden down in the center.

You would have to look up the legal limit in your state. And that's as dark as you can go legally

Why do you care so much? It ain't your truck, it's not dangerous or going to ruin the truck. Sure it isn't as good as a good professional paint job but if it works for him that's all that matters.
