    I think youre okay for now, but put it on your list of things to do. I've never done it and I'm at 108, but I need to go out and get a grease gun and grease, just don't know what type to use

    is there a certain type of grease that you are supposed to use on our trucks? and can you use that same kind of grease on both the slip yoke and the u-joints?

    Yes, same grease for U joints & Yoke

    You need a grease gun, I use some shit called Mystic Red & just about any auto parts store will carry these items , & personally I'll lube after almost every run especiallly where alot of water &/or mud is involved, hell I've been known to lube all chassis/driveline points 3 times in a month. But for most 2-3 times a year..

    Guys, you really need to locate & familiarize with zirk locations, it may vary from model year to year , for example the OP talks about 6 zirks, maybe thats all he has, but my 2000 TRD has 8 zirks so I think he may have missed 2 anyway....;)

    I think greasing your zerks more than every 6 months or more is a tad bit on the obsessive/compulsive side, and generally you should only be putting in one to three pumps of grease maximum, not cramming it in until it starts pouring out-\

    but what the HELL do I know?

    Apparently not much..... :eek::eek::eek: :Dj/k

    First off its not a compulsive/obsessive bro', its common sense if you wheel your truck as much as I do, water & mud are the most corrosive agents you'll encounter with your ride, & don't be like alot of guys here that wheel their trucks & then ignore all the mud & shit that gets thrown up & sticks to the under carriage & drive train & 3-6 months down the road wonder why your truck sqweaks like hell & U joints start to fail etc;

    & gotta say your incorrect about the "cramming of grease until it pours out", dude, theres tiny weep holes or spaces where the grease comes out for that very reason, when you lube the joints, you lube them until you see a little push out so you know its full...;)

    You want to pump it enough, so the old grease comes out. Thats kinda the whole point.:confused:

    You want to push out any moisture that might have found it's way into the fittings.

    This is wrong.

    NLGI No.2 Lithium Base Chassis Grease is used for the universal joint.

    NLGI No.2 Molybdenum Disulfide Lithium Base Chassis Grease is used for the slide yoke and the double cardan Joint.
