We were reading through the fine print in my wifes group plan and it said that they would completely reimburse us the cost of a first aid kit. Me being the skeptic that I am, figured they meant they would kick down ten bucks or so. With that in mind she called them and asked. Their representative told us that if it was sold as, and invoiced as a first aid kit then it qualified for complete reimbursement. Having that information in hand I began the search and found a complete kit in a Pelican case and we sent the weblink - site no longer offers it - to the insurance people and they gave it a thumbs up while reiterating their policy that "if it was sold as, and invoiced as a first aid kit then it qualified for complete reimbursement."

Placed the order over the phone and the store owner and I talked for a few minutes and the subject came around to military service, and after finding out that both of us are veterans shipping became free. Got the badass kit in the mail, emailed a copy of the invoice to the insurance company and a week or so later a check arrived covering the cost completely. With that said, read all of the benefit details in your policies.

I have my left arm in a sling right now so moving these heavy wheels is a ball ache. What I did was take the front, or outside part of a wheel out into my driveway to try to get some natural light on it. Sun is fading and now looking at the pictures I realize that I forgot to set the center cap on it. My fault. This is the black powdercoat finish.

This is the locking band and the back, or inside wheel part plus the gaskets and a small box of what I am assuming are the bolt hardware and plastic bolt covers.

You and me both. Sad part is that these are the second set that I've owned and I've yet to mount a pair onto the truck. At one time I was planning on selling the truck and just building my 4Runner so I gave all of my Tacoma parts to my brother in law, but then a moron decided to total the 4Runner for me so after some reflection I've decided to keep the truck and finish it. I still want to find a 2009 4Runner to tinker with but I'll wait till this project is done first. I can't imagine the nightmare of trying to finish two projects like this simultaneously.

    Yikes!

    Let's hope not.

Saturday the frame box plate kit that @jeffz0rz sent me arrived. The plates look great and I'll be happy to have them on the truck. Today I dropped the truck and a mountain of parts off at the fabricator. He plans to start on all the chopping and welding tomorrow. I've been planning for this for over five years now - literally before I even bought the truck - so as you can imagine I'm really stoked to be where I am today.

Once you are done inspecting all the shiny bits please make note of those 80,000 + mile factory tires. Driving in "geezer mode" for the win.

UPS just dropped off this bad boy. I have an auto and will put the switch block behind the transmission shift knob and to the left of the back cup holder on the center console.

We decided to take the chop back even further because, "why not?" The guys at Wolf Fab got some more work done this morning as well. Thank you @hmcclung for hooking me up with them.

Got the drivers side coil tower gussets tacked in. Since I bought new UCA bolts we chopped a factory UCA bolt to help act as an alignment guide for the gussets. Slipped the old UCA in for spacing. Factory bump is cut off to make room for the Fox bumps.

A few bits just tossed in to get some quick measurements for the bump can. Looks better without the sway bar.

    Getting there.

I know this picture is a bit misleading as the tires are small and the whole works is just hanging in the air but still, I'm happy about it.

Called McNeil today, says they finish tomorrow and will ship Thursday. I hope so as this will keep me from having to buy 33's to hold me off until the fenders arrive. I think in the end I will go ahead and get a set of 33's for the factory wheels to act as a "just in case" standby set.

    More to come...
