Hey yall, So yesterday I found out (day 1.5 of owning my truck) that if I'm moving Entune blocks use of apps like Yelp, etc... which was annoying as my passenger was trying to find a place for us to eat while I was navigating out of the venues parking lot.

Any secrets to override this "safety" feature or no? All it does is cause me to grab my phone instead of the steering wheel lol....

Also, apparently we can't voice text while driving either?

    What's the point in having messages read if I can't reply - _ -

Nothing as of yet. As for voice text, yea same thing, grab your phone and trigger Siri (iphone user here). It works through your system but still need to do that to trigger it. Hoping for an update to fix a few Entune bugs like that.

Not sure if this works for the third gen or how much the wiring changed, but some 2nd gen guys have done this. It basically cuts out the GPS signal with a switch to trick your car into thinking that it is stationary. Works for the NAV, so it should also work for everything else that gets blocked while moving.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...assenger-use-gps-while-the-car-moving.311180/

    Hope this helps.

probably like the 2nd gen. There is a speed wire that goes to the head unit. Either removing it completly. or putting a switch in to break the connection for a second after the truck has started and moving should allow you, erm, the passenger to use the full headunit.

I pulled the wire completly on my 2013 stock unit... i can now make calls out without having to touch my phone or use voice activation (which my HU doesnt have)

^he beat me to it, and provided the link.... i fail at life.

I email Toyota and asked about an update or at least the option to allow "passenger mode"

Will probably get a BS response, but can't say i didn't try,

There's two buttons for accessing voice control... one is for the Toyota voice control, and the other is the one you use to answer the phone if it's ringing. If you press and hold that button, you should get the Siri beep, without having to touch your phone at all. At least that's what I read on another thread somewhere.... I can't find it now, and I don't own a Taco (yet) so I can't verify it myself.

I'll have to see if that works with the "OK Google" or the moto voice on my turbo

You guys have got to realize Toyota blocks items while moving to protect themselves from frivolous lawsuits. " Toyota never said that I could not input navigation instructions and take my eyes off the road for 10 seconds while doing so.... I am sorry that I hit that pedestrian but I am suing for $15 mill. anyway."

Holding the phone "off the hook" button (the one you would push to answer a call), for 2 seconds, activate Siri hands-free mode every time on mine. It will allow me to do anything Siri normally would such as text people or read unread emails.

got a reply back from Toyota today. A lot of fancy lengthy words to tell me No. They will not do it.

    For "Driver Safety"

So I told them I'll continue taking my phone out lol
