If you have any mechanical skills, along with the proper tools, it would be quite simple to do, especially along with all of the write ups on here. The only part i'd recommend having someone else do is swapping the springs from the factory struts to the 5100s. Spring compressors can be quite dangerous so IMO its worth the $20-40 to have someone else do it in a shop.

x2, It's a pain in the butt whenever you have to mess around with compressing suspension. I did it with a car, which was some serious heave-ho. Consider that a car suspension is tons less beefy than a truck.

ive changed the front shocks on my dads f150 with him, and ive read a bunch on here its just sometimes i for some reason make the dumbest mistakes and miss the most obvious things. (like if i were to take it to autozone and they put it back together wrong) ive got a jack and 2 stands but i think they are a little short because its for my friends 240sx.

if youve got the tools and know whats going on id really appreciate any help chickenmunga
