Just doing some maintenance before next weekends trip out to the desert while I have time and noticed the red urethane bushing was severely warped. A quick search I came up with this thread. Almost similar case with his upper A - too much grease, over torquing? Few questions - but I've already placed an order for new bushings.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/urethane-bushing-question.285212/

Obvious question - What the happened?

Second - If new bushings don't come in time (busy holiday shipping) to replace before next weekend, should I not go wheeling?

Yeah. Greases the zirk today because they were squeaky quite a bit which is when I noticed it.

Were they squeeking or more like a low growling noise? Just has some TC uca's put on and one is making noise.

Not the same kind of squeak you'd hear from a leaf pack. But same noise (think rubbing your finger across clean glass) I heard right after installing them months ago before adding grease.

How often do you grease them and how much did you put?

While it doesn't look particularly good, I don't think it's an immediate problem. You have a new set coming from All Pro? Did they have any input on safety condition?

I greased them 5 months ago during the install with enough grease to see it slightly spew out.

Read another thread from TTORA with exact problem. Seems to suggest over greasing causing a build-up of pressure and/or over torquing.

Solution was don't over grease. Didn't know that could happen...

That's why I asked. Happened on my Built Rights, all I did was remove the zerk and let the excess grease out and all was fine. I do 3 pumps of grease every oil change and never have issues. If it was from 5 months ago though I'm not sure. Mine popped out almost immediately from over greasing.

You're supposed to loosen the UCA through bolt before adding grease.
What is pictured is what happens when you blow out the bushing because there's nowhere for the grease to squeeze out since the bolt is too tight.

Just loosen the bolt and rotate the UCA a few times and the grease will typically work out and the bushing go back to normal.

Question on torqueing bushed suspension parts on this vehicle..............

On the last marquee where I (and others with like models) did a lot of suspension work, it was very explicit that final torque of bushed fittings was to be done with the suspension loaded. In other words, with the car sitting on it's tires, not with the suspension in full droop on a lift or stands.

Failure to do this lead to suspensions not settling or working correctly and tearing up the bushings if you were insensitive enough to drive the car with it assembled wrong. All from being bound up.

What about the Tacoma? Does it care about this?

    depends on the bushing style.

OEM style where the inner sleeve is bonded to the outer sleeve... yes you MUST ABSOLUTELY torque stuff down at ride height.

Aftermarket stuff where the inner sleeve is not bondeded... it doesnt mater... so stuff like the all pro bushings, TC uppers, latest light racing bushings.... your find to torque em down where ever.

OP you dont need new bushings... just loosen the UCA bolt and let the extra grease out... you will be fine.

Depends on what arms. You should final torque factory arms and older light racing arms with the suspension loaded. Doesn't make a difference for Chaos, burg, etc. Different type of bushings.

Not with polyurethane bushings. They pivot and can rotate. Stock UCAs and LCAs use rubber which is locked in and flexes instead of pivoting.

    :edit:
    Beat me to it

Happened to a set I had. I don't think they had a good jig. I had to cut the bolt to get the things off my truck!
