96 turn signal bulb socket

Is there a bulb that will replace this socket all together? Thinking about doing fog light mod and want more output i can get from the small 1157 bulbs.

 

You'll have to modify the back of the lamp to accept a bigger bulb, but yes.

Oh here it is. But just like in this tut, you have to modify the back of the housings to fit larger bulb socket. There are sockets that will hold 1156 or 1157 bulbs, are those what youre looking for?

I want to get clear lenses but keep the blacked out look when turned by painted reflector gloss black. To keep some functionality id get some of those led projector bulbs to output light without reflector. (example isnt exact ones im getting)












He still used a regular halogen bulb.

 

check out the 889, 885, and 880 light bulbs. you'll need to find a new connector and modify the opening for a 3 slot, but shouldn't be an issue so long as the hole is the right size to accept the bulb.

 

I'm going to be doing this kind of mod as well with the square style. can you let me know what bulb you ended up going with?

I found these. The reflect looks really functional as a fog light.

I found a few sets of these for sale but literally no info on them. Their 1.5" hi/low projectors. Probably not very good but should be alright for fog lights. I was measuring the housings up and it doesnt look like theres any way for the 2.0 projectors to fit but these should.

 

wait, you're thinking of putting these on the bottom bumper lights to turn them into fogs, right?

 

Ya. I want them to be functional fogs not just look like fogs.

 

thing is, if the opening to your trucks bottom turn signals are like mine, the ones for 1157/1156 bulbs, it's half the size of the bulb that you just linked. plus, it relies on a back panel with a spring clip to hold it in place. here are some pics of the bulb and the back of any lamp that houses a 9003/hb4

 

you can see that the metal base is about 2 inches stock. but only 7/8 glass bulb. on the one that you linked, it looks like the glass bulb is nearly the same size as it's base. and if that's a true hb4/9003 bulb you linked, that glass portion has to be at least 1.5 inches diameter. hella big! i don't think you can modify the little turn signal lamp to house that kind of bulb.

 

Nothing the dremel cant handle. Few picks of the 98-00 blinkers with h4s.

 

but, how are they held in turn lamp assy? in the 3rd pic, the bulb is just sitting on the back end of the housing. what's keeping it from falling out?

 

Probably silicone. Id use epoxy or jbweld. Im gona start by just ording the lenses. I have led 1156 reverse bulbs that i can try.
