    Yes limited function for RF for sure but squelch is there and honestly for what these guys will do with them it's the best bang for the buck. Now if they are serious about radios then I would be steering them to HAM anyways.

    A review on the squelch controls from Amazon, at half the price and more control, I love my Uniden. Range is great at about 1-2 miles while on trails

    The Cobra volume and squelch controls are more conveniently located but don't have any mid range markings. This makes it hard to see where your settings are until something comes in too low to hear or screeches out too loud. They are also a little hard to reach and work with, with your thumb, especially with the on/off volume control which is a little hard and stiff to switch off. The Midland's controls are on top and kind of a two handed operation, neither manufacture's design is a clear winner while driving a vehicle but maybe the Cobra is a touch ahead here for one handed use. By the way, when I purchase hand gloves, they are the extra large size.

    I should be able to go see him in a couple weeks for a full set up. this might be a dumb question but do you know if there would be too much interference with wrapping the CB antenna with LED's for a night wheeling whip?

    I have no beef with Uniden either but I have had my Cobra tried and true for 5yrs now so cannot say anything but good about them.

    Well see... you left out a very important part. Me personally I avoid HC unless it is absolutely an emergency. Just have never had great dealings with them. But that is just me.

    Where do you have yours install that? I'm looking to have mine all but completely hidden and maybe even make it so that the handheld is detachable and I can put it in the center console or something like that when I don't need it
