An asshole decided to rear end me last night. The only damage to my new truck was the rear bumper.

I only asked for $200 since I felt bad but now that I have time to look at prices I should have asked for more.

Is there anybody that can get a stock black rear bumper for an 09 at dealer cost? If so it would be much appreciated. Please PM me if you think that you help me out.

    thanks

I wasnt at fault. I shouldnt have felt bad at all. He just seemed like a young kid that made a mistake and had no insurance. I thought 200 would be the going rate for one on eBay but i was wrong. I guess being nice doesnt pay off.

It's too bad because if everyone was like you our insurance rates wouldnt be sky high.

Maybe check a scrap yard? Just a suggestion not sure if you'll see any newer Tacomas or not.

you can still make a claim to your insurance. call him and say "i was wrong, this aint gonna work" and file the claim.

EDIT - someone hit me once and asked me to do it under the table. I said sure.. researched and fuond it was gonna be a lot of money, so they said "thats cool, just file the claim" and i ended up doing so about 2 weeks after..

If the damage is only to the "skin" of the bumper, and not structural, you can get one for under $200. See post #20 of this thread.

you were rear ended. that cannot ever be your fault. Better give your insurance a call - never heard of that before

drive around with your current bumper until you find one cheap. I drove around with my smashed up rear bumper for a year before finding a good one on ebay. Got the bumper for $20, paint and stuff for $30

No problem. Just replaced the skin last weekend and it was easier than I expected. If you have any questions that the thread doesn't answer, shoot me a PM.

Take a look behind your bumper before you order though and make sure that the damage is only a dent, and not something that broke any of the bumper "guts", if you will.

If you don't have his number and he didn't have insurance then just give your insurance company a call and file an "uninsured motorist" claim. depending on what your deductable is you might be better off. It won't show up on your record either. Just a thought...

I bought one of these and if it is just the skin that you dented you will be good to go for under $200.

My body shop got me a new rear bumper and painted it to match for $250 when my truck was hit. They were able to re-use the plastic pads on it.
