So installed the radio and that went fine. Then today I installed the backup camera it works, but I haven't connected the backup sensor wire from the headunit. Mainly because I dont know where that wire is. I have video feed but it doesn't automatically switch because the headunit doesn't sense that the truck is in reverse. I don't have a factory camera so can someone please point me where the backup sensor wire is.

Also, how can I trick the radio into thinking my parking break is set so I can watch a video while driving (for my passengers of course)

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Ground the wire to a ground anywhere instead of your parking brake. I wired mine to the passenger side near the fan.

I'd have to find wiring diagrams for the camera. But with the 2007, it was never wired for it. So you might have to do your own thing. Maybe tap into the reverse wires? Not sure where... maybe you could do it from the reverse lights?

I think the video thing is called a green wire mod or just parking brake mod and should be found in the a/v section.

I want that, but how do I trick the headunit into believing the trucks parking break is set?
Isn't that for post '09 trucks. I'll check when I get home
If that's the case I'll just splice it with the ground from the headunit. I've got the camera itself tapped into the reverse lights for power. I need to figure out where this last wire goes

Mitch, the park brake wire just needs to be grounded. Extended it to a switch, then run the other leg to a ground point where ever.
As far as your camera, I think the purple wire or pink? if you have one is the signal wire. That goes to the reverse light bulb wire, the other two wires if there are any would be a hot/ground

Iirc, you might be able to just take the signal wire from the harness on the deck and ground it to the deck itself. Some decks don't work like that, others its that easy. I had to get a dongle like the one I posted for my alpine to bypass the parking brake.

I'm sure there's other ways to achieve it, the display models at the car audio shops are bypassed for full function.

The backup camera, I'm not sure since mine didn't come with one from the factory. I would have to install and aftermarket one, in which case, there is just a rca for video input on the back of my deck. I would have to tap into my reverse wire, from the tranny harness I think or even the light on the dash cluster since its an auto, to the deck so it would auto switch when its in reverse.

Most have them attached to the camera harness, unless it's somehow all built into the RCA cables. There should be a sensor wire on the radio harness for you to connect the sensor wire to. Which is the wire that you tap into the reverse circuit. If that makes sense? I can easily do it, but trying to explain is not my skill lol.

Wire the backup sensor wire into the reverse lights? Or am I reading this wrong?

That's what I would do or find something closer to the head unit itself.

Yeah theres got to be something closer. Im guessing theres some sort of switch/sensor underneath the center console where the shifter is.

@Mitch , what made you decide on the Kenwood over the joying Android head unit? Does the Kenwood do mirroring or Android auto? I've been thinking about upgrading to Android or Android capable deck. The joying kinda seems like a pile of crap. I'll most likely stay with alpine since that's all I've ever owned.

Came from a single din Kenwood. It has an actual volume knob which I wanted. It says it will connect to Android, I'm waiting on an extension USB which should be here Thursday to fully see if actually mirrors.

Plus I wasn't 100% sold on the Joying unit. But I liked the idea
