Ive had this Midlands one for about 3 years now. Been a great radio. I would always take it out of the FJ and into whatever car we were traveling in...rental, ect. Good to have on long road trips.

I do like the hand feel of the Cobra 75 though.. this feels like a walkie talkie more than a CB mic.

I like the idea of the Cobra 75 and the Midland (coincidentally, also the 75). The Midland actually I like better since it comes with the portable battery pack and such if you wanted to make it a handheld and take it out of the car - not that you'd have shit for range with a rubber duck antenna, but still, gives you options.

The issue I had with the 75 was that it (and I assume the Midland) just have too much shit going on, on the mic. That makes the mic heavy and large. Yeay, the radio guts are tiny but the mic is massive. I'd rather have a decent "smaller" full sized unit and just hide it, with a mic extension. Once you set the channel and the squelch you aren't really playing with any of the buttons anyway, and a lot of those controls are a gimmick - oooo like I really need to program my 4 favorite CB channels for quick access, and who actually installs a 7W PA anyway?

Can anyone recommend a good 4X4 fabrication shop in the central OH area? I have BudBuilt skids on my truck now, and want to add Mobtown bolt-on sliders. Unfortunately the rear slider cross member connects to the frame in the same place as the sliders would, so i need someone to cut off the ends of the cross member and fabricate ends that can share bolts with the sliders. Pretty simple in concept, but I don't weld. I'm not originally from the area, so I don't know any good shops.

See post 137 for details: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ck-sliders-for-2005-2015-tacoma.401408/page-7

Here's a pic of the BudBuilt skid cross member
    1.jpg

And here's a pic of the Mobtown Skit attachment point

    Thanks!

There is Trails West out in Pataskala...they seem a little hit and usually miss only really working on Jeeps.

The best welder I know is Colt at http://www.midnightsteelwelding.com/
I dont think he has a lift though, but im sure he could do the job. He kind of just has a home garage shop. In Lancaster, so not super close either.

Pickups plus cars in Lewis Center MIGHT be able to help you. They're pricey though. Get a quote first: http://www.pickupspluscars.com/

Yeah, that's pretty much what I had in mind. Last time we were there I seem to remember agreeing most peeps would be comfortable running those roads with their stock rigs. There's just enough excitement to keep it interesting, but other than Stone Quarry and the river crossing, nothing should pose a problem for even the most cautious of drivers. Well, except for the buggy route, there's no way we're making it up there. Maybe Micah aired down using his locker... We shall see!:burnrubber:

10:30 sounds okay, I wouldn't want to meet any later than that though. I'd be on board for moving it back to 10. To make this meet I will probably bum a ride with @smithr1730 and provide navigator/cheerleader support. The only stipulation for me is that I work at 5, so I can't stay out too long.

I guess I'm sitting on Rob's GF's lap. That's the only reasonable conclusion that a Man of science could come to in this situation.
