I had the volant system on my 2nd gen with the scoop to pull air from the front bumper. Sounded awesome and definitely helped with throttle response. I currently have the Trd exhaust on my 3rd gen and it sounds pretty good. Nice rumble at start up and no drone at cruising

None that I've seen. I checked yesterday and K&N has officially put the 2016 4cyl on their site now since they are the same engine. None for the V6 yet that I've seen.

lol yeah I've seen a bunch of filters but that's about it. I check autoanything.com as well. They seem to be pretty quick with updating. Don't get your hopes up though when you see they have one listed for the 2016.......

yep that'll get it done for now. I'm still rocking the whole stock system until I can find something. I'll probably wait for the AFE one when it does come out. Also, the only cat back system I've seen so far is from Magnaflow and when I saw it, it was on backorder for a while.

The Volant CAI I had in the 2011 had a big odd shaped rubber red plug/piece on the front that you could remove
and made it sound throaty as hell - loved it so I did the same with this one, sounds pretty good too.

The exhausts on these imo are pretty nice already, were I to do something with it, it
would just be an in place muffler swap.

hmm I'll have to check those out as well, thanks for the heads up. Honestly I'm not sure how I like the sound of this exhaust just yet. If I did swap it out it would most likely be for the TRD one if they ever make one. I read somewhere where another owner took his off of his 2nd gen and cut the flange off to have welded on. I'd rather wait for a direct cat back that would be easy to swap back stock if I wanted too.

that's the nice thing about the cat back systems. 30 minutes in your drive way and you
have a nice new system. I did that on the titan I had right before the last Taco with a
magna flow cat-back and it sounded so nice but we'll never have that v8 sound but something
a little throatier would be nice.

Have you seen a dry filter replacement for them yet? I bet if I found one of those plus the
"deck plate" mod I did I'd get an even nicer sound. If I push the pedal I can hear a nice difference
    just with the mod now.

I know what you mean about the nice v8 sound. I wanted the Tundra but didn't have a reason to move up to something that size. I'm not too concerned with mpg. It is what it is at this point. You either want the truck or you don't. Something a little nicer sounding would be great though. Is this what you're looking for?

You'll have to select what size flange you need. If you're looking for the one that is the same size as the stock then here is this one:

The first link looks to be for CAI's with their shape and the 2nd is for oiled, I'd rather not go
oiled, had no issues with with the dry ones. My plan at this point is to just wait out a CAI, I
assume there is a baffle/filter of some sort up further in our stock intake?

You can change the type on the second link and change it to a pro dry:

I guess it's the same size and shape as the 2014 Tundra because I put in 2016 Tacoma V6 and that's what comes up. Funny how that and the brake controller harness came from the Tundra into this truck.

I wonder how different that dry one sounds, that's allota bread! I see the oiled
is 63% better flow and the Dry is 29% better flow.

I've read the same about our filter being the same as the 2014 & 15 Tundras.

Yes that's a whole lot of clams for a filter for sure. I'll be holding off until an actual CAI comes out. Hopefully that one will have a dry filter as well and that's most likely what I'll be putting on. I'm not sure if you'll notice much difference in sound really since you still have all the factory piping with baffles and what not.

that's my thought too much for too little, and with having all else stock I don't see it
doing much sound wise. I'm going to wait it out as well, can't be too much longer.

Nothing more than cutting a hole in the intake really. In the pic they use a "deck plate" to have
an option to seal the hole for off-roading or really bad weather. Not mine
just a pic I grabbed off the net. I have mine on the front so the nice cool
air that comes in goes in, it's to the side of the grille so there isn't any crap
coming in as well, if it did the filter would catch it anyway.
