What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

First White 1st gen I've seen color-matched. Looks awesome!

Definitely add a small amount of grease to the splines to help install. Any lithium grease should be fine.

 

I did add a thin layer of grease. Thanks for the help guys.

 

Never add grease to that it very little if you do. Unlessyou want grease mixing with your diff oil which is not a good thing .

 

Use some clean diff fluid on the splines.

 

I been looking hard for these color matched flares etc for my 01.. Come up empty dry nada zilch.. Not even a part number to look up

 

Yea that's always a better option.

 

Just sanded/primed factory black ones and had painted.

 

How much sound deadener does one need to do the interior of an extra cab?

 

What are you up to Buddy? Swapping out that axle with the torn boot? What are you putting in?

Don't mind the limit strap location, missing cotter pin and dust cap.

 

No one seemed to notice your pics are of the HUB SIDE. You did good and you want a film of grease to fight corrosion in there. It's far from a waterproof area. More important is a light smear of grease on the TWO seals, one on the shaft end and the other on the hub. These "seals" have no other source of lube and will become worthless in just a few K miles if left dry without that smear of grease. Same thing applies to the rear axle outer seals.

Yeah I lightly coated those two seals that cup that inner section. I also lightly coated the bearing surface and spines of the cv. I also greased the seals on the diff side too.

 

I have one I can mail you. I just need to check my SWR one more time after I install some better quality coax. The stuff I have now is the cheap RadioShack coax.

I used about 100 feet I think. I still have some left over to do the doors.

 

Pair of KCs on front, put the American Flag on with a very sturdy and inexpensive custom mount a while back

 

looks good, just like it was supposed to be. just look at the silver/green/red color-matched and looks the same.

white and gold were never options for color-match, easier to paint anyway if you need to do more than one piece.
