This thread is awesome. I think you should have named it "What Haven't I Done To My Tacoma Today?: Millennium Falcon Edition".

If I hit the lottery this is totally what I would do with my free time: Buy old junk cars and refurb them to factory new condition for no apparent reason. I would probably start with an '86 Toyota MR2, since that was my first car, but I'm sure I would get to a Tacoma at some point.

Hey Steve, thanks for viewing the thread.
I really enjoy having space to work, I wish everyone who needed a place to tinker had it.

Just found your thread. Super impressed with all your hard work!

As far as your rear leaf springs go... numerous members have had great results building bastard packs with junkyard finds. It seems the older american steel is far superior to whatever toyota has been using and even some of the new (expensive) spring sets.

I've been absolutely thrilled with my essentially free leaf springs and a friend with a first gen has had equally great results.

This thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tacoma-spring-refurbishing.194386/#post-4234018 is what started it for me.

Seems a solution like this would be right up your alley.

Among other things today, I replaced my drivers seat bottom as it was ripped. The side plastic was no longer staying in place because the back tabs had been broken by a short person getting in a lifted truck and not sitting on the seat but on the side plastic.

Not too much has been happening in the shop lately. However I plan on putting a big day in the shop tomorrow and hope to have the engine, tranny, transfer case and a few other parts off the parts truck and ready to go in my truck asap.

Does anyone know what could cause both axles to vomit grease all over the place?
The previous front diff/axles did not do this.

They're blown bro. Need to rebuild (messy but that hasn't seemed to slow you down) or buy some new ones. Lots of generic brands that offer lifetime warranty for under $100. They're not as well built as OEM but unless you are off-roading, they should be ok.

By blown do you mean they need to be disassembled, cleaned, regreased & rebooted?

Any idea what could cause them to go pretty well immediately after installing them from the parts truck?
My truck is lifted but the parts truck was not, could the different usage angles have caused them to go?

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Yes on all accounts. Dry rot reared its ugly head when those boots were forced to stretch and bend to new and likely greater angles. Happened to me too, pretty darn common really. New neoprene boots for all four (both sides inner and outer) can be had for about $60 on rock auto from the brand Moog. Then the special crimping tool for the clamps is another $9 on eBay. The hardest part is cleaning and regreasing, because you have to pop the tulip joint off to get the boots on.
