    I haven't measured, just going off conversations I have had with people who seem to be level headed, they had apparently experienced it, but it could have been something different. I didnt ask past that.

    The 4.93" of travel is for a standard travel coilover, correct? So how much do the extended travel versions impact that number? I realize it isn't enough to close that 2.5" gap of preload so you still should have plenty of room.

    Also, where did you get your specs? Kings catalog didn't have the block height when I was looking at it awhile back researching this.

    Next time someone says they are experiencing coil bind, look at the spring. The powder coat will chip/rub off where the coils come in contact. Real easy to see with spring steel because it will surface rust very quickly.

    If you remove the shaft spacer completely, you gain 1/4". Obviously if you replaced it with a 1/8" spacer, you gain 1/8".

    I used Eibach specs because I have their catalog sitting on my desk. There's not a whole lot of ways you can make a coil spring with the same dimensions and get the same spring rate. We're talking maybe a 5% swing in either direction depending on manufacture.

    So if you have a target ride height, (say trying to sit level-ish with the rear) suspension performance (ride quality) is the only factor that can be traded against that lift? Or is there some other way to control height and ride quality?

    If I remember Physics correctly adding preload effectively increases spring rate, and shortens spring stroke.

    Posts like this make me wish we still had parts of MT 1.0.
    Cliff notes...with linear coil springs, the spring rate is a constant. No amount of preload changes that. Preload changes potential energy which is calculated by a number of variables including spring rate.

    I see everyone chiming in on a 1k a month mortgage. Remember I'm in NC. Cost of living is significantly cheaper here. Wages are significantly lower here as well. Most families don't make 50K a year here.

    I never said it's impossible and you wouldn't be proving anybody wrong. It's simple math. Not everyone has the same weight, same hardware and the same preload. There are absolutely good reasons to have a 700# spring rate, but zero preload is not one of them. It's simple math anyone can do. And if you are as anal retentive as I am, it's not hard to mic the spring gaps of every single coil and compare it to shock shaft length.

    Based on your math before if you had 2.5" + of preload then it would be possible, but with zero preload it would technically be impossible unless you somehow bottomed out your shock and kept going right? :notsure:

    Yup. And I'm not discounting anyone's experience. It can and does happen. If you preload the fuck out of any coilover, regardless of spring rate, or length, or vendor, yeah, it can happen. That doesn't prove anybody wrong. Proving me wrong would defy basic arithmetic. Which means our entire physical and mathematical laws are wrong. It really just means your coilover is going to turn into a brick when you hit coil block length because your shock travel is larger than the spring gaps.
