Servco, both Toyota and Lexus get their vehicles from Japan directly. Not saying all the cars are actually brought in from Japan but as part of the selling agreement. Toyota/Lexus USA is the national distributor that Servco circumvents. Therefore both brands are not serviced here locally. Same as none of the national ads you see for financing / leasing etc apply in Hawaii.

FYI the headunits do use all the data from your phone but only through the proprietary app produced by Toyota/Lexus USA

 

Everything you stated sounds accurate as I now understand it. My point is that the window sticker reads "Entune Premium Audio" just as they do on the mainland... but lacks the traffic and weather. When you go to http://www.toyota.com/entune/ it lists -HD Data for Weather and Traffic under the description of Entune Premium Audio. If Servco is not selling what Toyota is offering then they need to clarify that during the sale... which they did not. My salesman even said that I could talk to service about those features not working... "it is a configuration issue", he said. I know of Tacoma truck brought from the mainland and these features work. Something smells here.

 

So I understand this, the data you'd pull from HD radio isn't available from Servco?

 

Yes along with the rest of the Entune suite. That's the data, not the native HD radio signal which is available.

 

It seems that some software is removed or was never installed on the Entune Premium Audio headunit, when buying from Servco. So there is no way to display the traffic and weather data that would be pulled by HD radio or cellular data plan (via your phone), in the absence of HD radio.

 

Yups, bought a 2014 HU from a member here with all the feature galore minus the JBL. All works via cell data; Weather, Apps, Predictive Traffic etc.

Weird cause the only notable feature that came with my Pro was NAV.

I don't know how it is with the 3rd Gen though.

Another way to test this is to see if you can use someone's VIN to register your unit to see if you can gain access because that's what the app service requires you to do. As soon as I dropped my VIN in I was told oh so sorry we can't help you, goodbye!

 

Servco is the "Toyota Mafia" of Hawaii. But like most things in Hawaii its either you deal with them or spend money on shipping from the mainland.

 

True! If you try the Toyota corporate site they refer you back to servco

 

Just gotta say that Im not hating on Servco. Just stating how I feel. Im kind of a hypocrite as I have bought 4 vehicles from Servco.

 

Haha well that's not very difficult when they are the Toyota mafia... Anywhere on island, if you bought a yota new locally, you bought it from servco

 

How about Maui Toyota? Are they still separate from Servco?

 

Actually yes they are separate, was confusing Kauai. But I think they still buy from Servco as the dist. so no access to Entune. Servco owns the Lexus there. Sorry.
