Yes, they only have the two side rails. You can order the front bulkhead rail and it bolts right in with no drilling necessary or use a rail from a 2nd Gen. I ordered one today from the vendor listed in the thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/front-bed-rail-it-fits.394416/

I had a slider in my last truck, a full sized Chevy. That was the best money that I've ever spent. I plan on doing the same when I get my shell for the new Tacoma.

Let's see some pics of the z series. You should be singing out loud you didn't go with the Cx like I did and the mess it's been with the whole ARE experience

Just took delivery on my Snugtop Rebel. Very nice shell. Amongst other features, is a rear door handle which locks keyed to the cab door locks.

Got my ARE Z-Series installed yesterday, finally after a 7 week wait, and a pretty crappy experience with the dealer and nonexistent replies from ARE when I tried to reach out to them via email during the time I was waiting for my shell (and i even had the company email of the person at ARE who was dealing directly with the vendor, and never received a response from him). I just wanted the transaction done and wanted the shell, and the entire process was a cluster, so I did get a nice discount all said and done from the dealer (they screwed up at least three times during the process and i was ready to walk on the deal if they weren't going to make it right), and paid about $400-500 less than a comparable, top of the line LEER 100XQ. The fit looks good, and the color matches pretty darn close, taking into consideration the shell is obviously a different material than the truck body, but really it looks great in that regard. Fit and finish look good as well, so at this point I can't complain about those things. I also like the way the rear portion of the windows crank out like a fish gill when opened to allow ventilation back there for my dog. It's way easier and more convenient to just reach in and crank the dial from outside the truck to open and close the windows instead of having to crawl in and out of the truck each time if the side windows were the slider type, and I didn't want windoors.

After talking to a few dealers, if I had to do it again I'd for sure go with LEER. More than one dealer told me the quality of LEER and ARE are the same, and both companies make great products, but they dropped ARE because of REALLY, REALLY bad customer service. Even the dealer I bought my shell from told me after the fact that ARE is the WORST for warranty claims, replacing parts, etc. I was told in the past they had receive the wrong wiring harness for a certain shell, and it took forever for ARE to respond and send out the correct harness.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed though, and hoping I won't have any issues with the shell. The original reason I went with ARE was because I really liked their rear window, how it was totally flat and did not have the hinges mounted directly to the glass like the LEER rear window on their higher end shells, and the ARE hardware does look more robust. But like I said, if I had to do it again I'd trade a slightly less robust rear window hardware for a more responsive and proactive customer service department. I can't really say that LEER is any better since I advent had to deal with them ever, but I'll say this...they cannot be any worse than ARE.

Glad you finally got it, sounds like it was a major pain. It looks great though!

I will be in the market soon for one. I really like the look of the flush windows verses the sliders, but I was concerned about how much air gets back there for my dog. Do you think it gets a pretty good air flow through those windows?

I would say, unless you have the cabin window open and the A/C cranked, in the summer it will be very hot for a dog back there with no sliders.

I think it should get pretty good airflow honestly. I'm about to head out now for a hike with my dog, and I'll take some pics of the windows fully opened and post them later on so you can see what they look like.

Doubt you'll get much going fro the cabin to the back of the truck with the AC on. Just my opinion.

I had a Snugtop Rebel on my '14 and it was great. It had the slider, and I got it so he would have enough air back there. But I really like the clean looks of the tilt out windows.

Just ordered myself a leer 100xl from farmbro for my birthday!
Their pretty big company so hopefully no issues on their end with customer service, and leer sent them 8 varients of the mgm paint code IG3 for me to match to ensure a good colour match.
    Time will tell

That's why I went with sliders. Too scared to risk it. But I agree, the tilt windows look super-nice. We get temps in the 100's in the summer, so I was concerned about a Magnetic Gray cap in the summer heat getting too hot.

I gave a local dealer my paint code, but I didn't have any swatches to match with. I hope Leer gets it close!

I was happy with my Snugtop on the '14, but I do like the looks of the Leers on the '16's. No sure what I am going to get yet

Here are some pics I took at the trailhead. A few are kind of close, showing the shell, truck bed and body so you can get an idea of the color matching. Others show the windows opened.

Yep, works great, also did the pop n lock kit for the tailgate, so both lock/unlock with the factory remote. Completely worth it.

Haven't noticed any leaking yet with my snugtop, need to plug the holes in the little compartments on the sides of the bed though.

Yep, not top spendy, only $50 ish bucks or something and takes five minutes to install. In put mine in so I could have bed rail teach net points there as well as the sides. I do t know that it will make much of a canopy install difference.
