Serviced mine today.They said fluid was full,no codes and no updates.

 

Mancub , did you paint your overflow plug before you took the truck in ?
Any sign on the plugs that they were removed ?
When transmission fluid dumps out the overflow plug , it stains the aluminum casing . Technicians wipe off the remaining fluid but you still get a stain . Any stain ?

 

No problem.

 

Curious about this as many will just "say" it was checked, especially with a new vehicle
they believe is fine and the owner is just being "picky". Just wish it was an easier process
to check ourselves, not a big fan of jumping fuses, sure, should be fine but still never a fan
of screwing with the electronics.

 

Oh, that's good to hear. CC performance is my only complaint about this truck, other than my resetting trip meters which they are working on a solution.

 

Which dealer are you referring too? I'm going to be taking mine in for the 5k service next week probably and plan on getting the fluid checked. Seem to be having the same shifting issues everyone else is regarding the low fluid.

 

Id like to reset my transmission learning process after atf has been topped off and let it learn again properly.
Should this be necessary?
And will disconnecting the battery really do the job?

ahh Greensboro. Tad too far for me to try. I guess worse case though if my local one doesn't want to play nicely, I can always make a weekend trip out that way.

The toyota information system contents toyota vehicle repair manual which used to be PDF links, it's now chm mode which is only webpages. I am trying to download the manual for my vehicle in two days and here is the fastest way I figured out.

Please share if you have better idea. I can't make those hyper-link work since they all became image in the pdf files.



Tools you will need


Firefox

PDFCreator

TIS login account ($15/2 days)


Install PDFCreator, create a new profile, change the Auto-save option; Change the filename to <Title>, update the directory for auto-save. You need create a new printer to use this new profile, which can auto save your pdf to particular folder.



Login TIS and open the repair manual, for the first page, make sure you selected the new PDFCreator printer as your current printer and print your first page, double check the pdf file at the auto-save folder and make sure that fits you want. I took the footer and header off so it looks much nicer.


For firefox, type “about:config” in the address bar and add print.always_print_silent as Boolean and set it to true.


Now, for each page you click on the left, there is a print icon on the top right corner, click that will print a new pdf file to the auto-save folder. For each page, you will need two clicks to save to pdf format.


Go through all your pages and hit the printer icon. You should be able to download the repair manual in couple hours. The PDF files will have the full text title in the pdf file name, which you can easily search.


I got my two vehicles' repair manual done in 7 hours.

 

Before I sign up for 2 days of TIS, can you save the manual (or all the pages) in CHM format? Then, use something like this to convert them to pdf: http://chm-to-pdf.com/

Its been a few years since i did it for my truck .
I posted this to avoid any misinformation . I dont own a 2016 .
As much as I would like to have the new information , I dont have the time to download and pay for a truck I dont own .
So here is hoping one of you 3rd gen owners shares the info once you get it downloaded to PDF

my last 4 vehicles have been a 4runner and 3 tacomas. I feel i am a good toyota customer. I currently have a 2014 tacoma and it has been excellent. I planned on trading for a 2016 this spring.
However, i have been reading on "tacoma world" re the nigtmare people have been having because their trucks are delivered with too little fluid in the transmission. Checking the fluid is a complex procedure and many dealerships are refusing to do it.
I would like to hear that toyota is addressing this issue and applying what would seem to be a quick and easy fix before i purchase my next truck.
