Concur, I'll give Toyota a year to remedy the issue before I trade the truck in for something else. I'm currently looking at other vehicles that my suit my needs, I like the idea of the Ridgeline, but I am pretty sure I wont pull the trigger on a first year model after what I've experienced with the Tacoma.

Likewise, I can't see myself getting rid of it so soon. I'm not sure if I can hold out for a full year so thinking more like 6-9 months. Then its into an F-150, if Toyota doesn't provide a TSB for this.

I can't say for sure since I have not driven the 2nd generation Tacomas, but my understanding is this is an entirely new vibration and has different characteristics. I don't think we know enough to pin it on any one cause or relate it to previous problems that may or may not be resolved.

Typically my experience has also been the opposite or yours - the best group to resolve difficult design issues are the original team, usually augmented by some outside help as needed for ideas. Trying to tear apart a problem and "fix" it on a complicated design can usually lead to introducing new problems if not careful. Have seen that happen more than once.

Hoping they come up with a fix, but will not wait forever...

" Toyota has not offered a root cause. In fact, other than the two engineers involved in your unique situation, the official response from Toyota is that there isn't problem. That alone speaks volumes about what Toyota plans to do about the reported vibration issue. It appears that Toyota's policy is deny, deflect and divide."

1200 miles on my OR 4x4 DCLB Auto. I have ulnar neuropathy so that precludes me from offering an opinion on whether or not I am affected.
I think if Toyota persists in treating their customers this way then the best defense is one hell of an offense.

    1. Start using social media postings to blast Toyota's handling of these defects pointing potential customers to all the complaints on various Toyota boards. Enlist the help of friends and family to do likewise.

    2. My opinion is that it may be a serious safety issue hence file a complaint with NHTSA
    http://www.nhtsa.gov/Vehicle+Safety/Recalls+&+Defects
If hands arms are going numb what about the possibility of losing control ?

    3. Drive around town with rear window sign painted
ASK ME WHY A 2016 TACOMA IS A PIECE OF SHIT
Especially on weekends ( highest traffic ) within blocks of dealership

When the NHTSA / Dealers / potential customers start complaining maybe then they will do something but I'm afraid until it hurts their bottom line it is not likely to happen.

If I was treated by "Monique" as described I would politely tell her where SHE could put those VIBRATIONS

Now if Toyota really pays attention to these boards MAYBE this will get their attention.

Stockotaco mentioned in another thread that because theirs doesn't have the vibration, they should perhaps bring in their truck for *not* performing as designed. Surely if such a significant 'feature' is lacking, then there is something wrong with about 60% of trucks on the road that aren't currently experiencing the vibration.

I was out looking at other trucks and SUVs Wednesday and the dealership just got two Limited Tacoma models built 1/29. They once again let me take those out because they weren't busy (and probably because they think the more I drive others the more I'll come to terms with this vibration). Both brand spanking new Limiteds had it quite prominently in the wheel, pedal, and floor. Don't know how or why Toyota is letting these come off the line like this still. Regardless the numbers and polls, at this point there certainly seems to be enough trucks out there with this issue for Toyota to use the "characteristic" defense. I think it's the luck of the draw on what you'll get. Test drive before you take delivery and hope it doesn't develop after.

I just sold a Ridgeline and bought my third new taco. I liked the Ridgeline a lot. It had more room on then inside and many features that the TRD sport does not. I am having the transmissions issue and am considering getting rid of it and going with the new Ridgeline if a tsb doesn't come out soon. I spent 35k on the Ridgeline and the same for the taco and it didn't come with the option of a shitty vibration and irregular shifting. If Toyota doesn't fix this soon they are going to get a very bad rap and no one will want one. HONDA has got to love this!

If this is an exhaust problem somebody should go and weld in a flex section or two. First on the driver side pipe. Then maybe on the passenger side as well. Should change harmonics of the exhaust.

I've played with various aftermarket and frankensteined exhaust configurations on my 2005 Legacy GT and it's amazing how much sound and vibrations are influenced by the exhaust.

The reality is, if the engineers don't drive these trucks and experience it first hand, then it's not likely to get fixed... (Toyota is probably more interested in ensuring it's manufacturing quality gets fixed before worrying about any perceived design flaws... such as the hood support adhesive issue, window channel rubber not sitting flush, propellar shaft zerks not being lubed at the factory, u bolt nuts not being properly torqued on rear suspension, and the transmissions not being properly filled that have towing package). The truck has to be consistenly manufactured to a higher quality standard (as designed) before they can validate any concern.)

Path of least resistance is to deny and deflect, if the driveshaft isn't falling off, causing accidents somehow, or catastropphically failing then it's not a safety issue so reporting it to the NHTSA isn't going to do much good... they're a Safety Association.

It very well be a ride comfort issue though that Toyota's NVH team should have picked up on (if they do real world testing vice just in a lab on a dyno machine)...

Our current culture sadly dictates that the best way to get attention is to use social media to put Toyota on blast... while I can't say I agree with this approach. If one was to do this at the peak of auto show season (like we're currently in), I would bet you'd get some attention from Toyota... it should be easy enough to find their facebook page or twitter handle and tag them in your complaint... with a link to the forum thread about all the people complaining about this issue and others...

Maybe, but I've gone twice for re-balance. I'm going to put my stock SR5 wheels and tires back on and see if the problem goes away. I didn't get to high speeds with my SR5 wheels and tires since I was still babying it for the break in period. That'll clear up if it's added wheel and tires or something in the truck. Hopefully it's just the bigger tires.

Well if it's speed specific it's an out of balance something or rather. Different than what's described in this thread. Keep us tuned, hopefully you get it resolved

I've been monitoring this thread occasionally and am now posting to receive updates. My TRD Sport 4X4 AT has this in the accelerator pedal and steering wheel through these RPM ranges. In the past month mine has worsened to the point where I too hear interior components rattling and buzzing. Not sure what those components are though. I'm afraid I've gotten the same response most of you have. I took mine in a few weeks ago for a tire sensor issue and brought this one up. The service advisor said "they all do it and it's nothing to be concerned about." I had a few choice words to that answer and walked out. I wasn't going to stick around and argue. At this point I'm willing to try anything, such as aftermarket exhaust modifications if anyone has product suggestions.

I am curious if anyone in the Cincinnati Ohio area has a 2016 Toyota Tacoma v6 sport 4x4 that they feel is free of the buzzy/vibration in the steering wheel? This buzzing/vibration kicks in around 1800 rpm and keeps going till 2500 rpms. It is under load/acceleration. You can really notice it if you place your free hand on the steering airbag. If your truck is smooth I can use that info to take back to corporate Toyota as they seem to call this vibration "normal" in these trucks. I know many people say they don't have the vibration. I've driven 3 trucks from dealers and they all seem to have it. Finding one that doesn't would be like finding Bigfoot at this point. If I never find a vibration free truck the problem is still real and still unbelievable that Toyota won't acknowledge it as such!

Also I've noticed that some of the car magazines had some comments about the transmissions but nothing about the vibration. Edmund's has a long term Tacoma for a tester. I'm going to long in to there comment section and put a bug in there about this and see if they notice it...

Just curious, anybody in the SF Bay Area have a 'problematic' truck I can drive? My truck has no issues, nor did the 2 I test drove prior to buying mine.
