Mobtown Offroad Tailgate Reinforcement Plate for 3rd Gen Tacoma

As most know the 2nd gen tailgate was a poor design and would buckle under heavy load. A couple vendors and us have taken different approaches to fix this. Toyota clearly put more thought in to the tailgate on the 3rd gen. It is a lot thicker, and reinforced in areas where it makes sense. We still have a couple people asking for our tailgate reinforcement plate for the gen 3 just in case. I understand no one wants to replace a $600+ tailgate when they can reinforce it for under $250.

I am interested and want this, BUT i'm not getting my truck until Feb - March next year. If your pictures are anything to go by, it looks clean and pro. Something I would pay for.

 

Come to think of it, i'll take both. Come on guys!!! It's worth it!

 

This is something I will be considering, but have a few other projects to get complete first. Also those storage doors are something that is already on my to-do list from you guys. Will this tailgate be shipable to Canada, or with its size, will it not be feasible?

I'm getting my truck Saturday, just got the call that it arrived today. I want to see the construction of my tailgate first before committing to this. This looks like something I could use, though I would probably just get line-x put on it for added durability and scratch resistance.

Do you know how the added weight affects the dampener/shock on the 3rd gen tailgate?

After rethinking the issue and doing a little reading, please add me to the skin (ribbed) list as well. Will shipping charges be included in the price quoted? If not, what would be a good ballpark figure for shipping both to Tennessee?

 

Looks like a good amoun of interest is showing so I will try to get some designed and ordered quickly. Shipping is extra.

 

I'm going to check out the tailgate a little more see if I really need this. But I'm leaning toward yes for the skin.
