What is this connector for?

I just replaced my stock 2006 radio. It had four connectors in the back of the stock radio but only three plugs.
This one has three wires. Can anyone tell me what this third and now unused one is for. My truck did not have the steering wheel controls.

Not that it is impossible, yes I'm sure it can be done by sending it to the dealer but to do this at home?

That is replacing a plain steering wheel with one with audio controls?

If so how difficult? Would the entire steering wheel need to be replaced or just a few parts on the steering wheel?

 

My buddy did it... You can either swap the steering wheel or get the kit that mounts / clips to your wheel.

My 2008 Tacoma has audio controls on the steering wheel but was more curious just exactly how this would be done, that is by dyi at home mod (if possible) instead of someone who doesn't have this feature, having to take it to the dealership to have it done.

I will add to this .
If you already have steering wheel controls on the left side of your steering wheel , its easy and cheap to install Bluetooth on the right side " however " in order for the bluetooth to function you will need to install a receiver that has Bluetooth capability .
