Yeah, that was one Hell of a price difference!

 

The Alcan guys are crazy specific.....you have to take measurements from all kinds of angles and they ask 1K questions. Must be why their product is so highly regarded.

 

That is all normal for ordering custom springs, some places will even ask you to go park the ass end on a truck scale too. Unless you feel comfortable taking the pin out of the leaf pack yourself you should talk to them about pinion angle and have them estimate what degree shim you are going to need and go ahead and install the shim on the pack for you...you will need a pinion shim.

Edit - with a 6" lift you will prob need at least a 4 degree shim to get your u-joints back within 3 degree tolerance.

 

On my last build, I actually moved the spring perches on the axle and welded them back. Too much hassle though, not going that route this time.

Anyone have any regrets going with a DB lift? I am thinking of going with Pro Comp. Looked at Rough Country but do not like the fact that they have no struts going from rear cross member to trans cross member like Pro Comp and Fabtech do. I drive 25k miles a year on highway, and only do light offroad. I fixed my Jeep more than I drove it, so I am not going that route again..lol. Thanks for your thoughts.

 

I'd say I'm one of the few who don't regret it at all.. Others should chime in tho here soon

Of all the kits do not go with rough country.

 

I assume you're wanting a 6" lift then? I'd go with BDS but personally speaking I have a 4.5" from RCD for a little over a year now and love mine.

 

Why specifically BDS? I have looked at install instructions for BDS, Pro Comp, Fabtech, and RCD. But I have no idea what the actual kit differences are as far as geometry, steel thickness, etc. I did notice that Rough Country appears to drop the diff further down, and that is something I am not interested in.

 

I just installed the 4" DB lift from BDS. I went with BDS because of the warranty they offer.

 

Pro comp has a good warranty also, do they not? What sizes tires are you running with the 4 inch?

 

Before I went with King lift I was going with bds. Bds is the way to go with 6"

 

I plan on going Kings along with DB. I aint cutting my flares like you had to Andrew.

 

Please don't do a drop bracket. Tacoma's do so much better with a 3" mid-travel style lift. You will spend about the same money and it will be 100% reversible, ride and perform better on and offroad...AND you can still fit 35s if you decide you need them in your life.

The warranty is a moot point....really not much on a drop bracket you can break on ANY of the brands (Other then wearable parts its just huge chunks of heavy gauge steel)

I'm not sure about the warranty with Pro Comp. I'm running 285/65/18s with plenty of room.

 

You haven't got to cut as much as I did. I did cause I went to 35's on a 2.5" lift

 

Damn nice looking truck. But I have my heart set on Dirty5s.
