I don't remember ever reading about swapping a Honda motor. What motor? I mostly hear about diesel, ls1 or 2jz.

 

Why a Honda motor? They work great in little cars because they don't need any torque to get it rolling and HP takes over once they are moving.

It would be a pretty bad choice if its going in a truck with big tires honestly.

Get a 1.8l.diesel from a Volkswagen.

 

Im thinking old hilux. 2wd. I know it has been done, and I figure a toyota motor would be easier, but I think the guy has a F20a honda motor he would sell with the truck. A 1.9 VW diesel would be awesome, if I was to attempt that I would find a VW caddy truck platform, which I have though of doing as well. the 1.8 was the gti motor which would also be a fun swap.

http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/5455770542.html I've talked to him and could probably get the truck and motor all for around 3K. I think it would be a fun toy to have and cruise in the summer. Little lowered, some sweet wheels, and enough hp in that tiny ass truck to kick it sideways if I wanted.

This is all just me thinking, and wanting to do, but no garage as of right now so probably won't be happening. I jsut always see this small datsun 620 or 510s sitting around and think how cool they would be with a RB20det in them or cram a supra motor into the hilux.

A 350 swap is to common and to me, besides the power, boring. A turbo'd straigh six or 4 banger would be such a suprise in a rig like that. But still daily enough to get good mpgs in the summer and have fun.

 

Only good reason for it. Id still rather have a genuine turbo mr2 though

That's prety sweet. I mean yea ideally just swap in a 7mgte and keep it toyota, but if it came with a motor and tranny and ecu like he said.

 

Datsun but same conceptl. Would be super fun I think.

 

I want one so bad, I've almost pulled the trigger on a couple of em'. I have a VQ30 engine that I really want to put in one.

Ive literally always hated lowriders and stuff like that, but these things are just so damn cool. like a 250hp motor in one of those would be insane. But a 750hp like that one I posted with the 2jz? Holy shit.

 

Was a 700hp 1jz one for sale in Wyoming for a while.

 

Lol thats crazy. I'll never get to do it, but maybe one day.

Ha, I agree with that 100%. Some of the best memories of our adventure last summer in Canada was the people we met along the way. It was fun.

I'll read the article tomorrow, it is too late to do it justice tonight.

 

It's an okay article. I bet the books he wrote are really good though.
