I would go to another dealer. Look around for good service reviews and try them. Some already on this forum have been told buy the dealer that they checked the AT fluid and it was fine. They went to a second dealer and guess what, the AT fluid was low because they actually checked it. The typical service center won't check the AT fluid if they think the AT is working fine.

    Sounds like yours is low.

I would hope that goes along with asking dealers to check it.

Doesn't make any damn sense unless the famous TCM is bullshit. This is a safety issue and the alarms should be sounded along with notifications to all owners to bring their trucks in to be inspected.

Swimmer and old school acting like theyre paying for the servers and are worried about your 31kb thread. The point of a forum is to post topics. Being autistic and crying for everyone to use the search button improves your life how?

Just talked with Toyota dealer I bought my truck from. They claim Toyota "got the memo" and is required to Check all 2016 Tacos before they hit the Dealer for Transmision level. But, he still agreed to check my Trans fluid levels free of charge. Said it take 2-3 hours...

I wish for an aftermarket mode to the AT pan, where the check ‘tube’ is changed for one where the height is correct for the ATF at normal operating temperature, with a side benefit of a fully open thermostat.

That would simplify checking the ATF for both, the end consumer and all shops w/o the special tools, in less time.

Toyota please read: Simplicity is the name of the game...

Just got back from the dealer. Mine ATF was spot on! They agreed to check it free of charge even though I didn't buy it from them. He had heard nothing from Toyota about low levels. He mentioned they check the level when they receive the new stock. Before I left, the service rider mentioned some of the southern states have different rules and warranties they follow.

Solid guy and great start to owning my Tacoma! Very happy with my local.

2-3 hours to check the transmission fluid? Why so long?
