I guess it is matter of perspective. Yes it would be a 2" lift in relation to a Gen#2, however it is really only a 1"l lift on a Gen #3

 

If your going to set OME 885 to .85, better get 887 and and set at 0 and that will give you around 2" lift when settled

I installed a body lift and removed it the next day. But my problems were the aftermarket bumpers didn't line up very nice.

 

My .02,

You can't go wrong with aftermarket UCAs. I lifted my FJC 2-3" and it was hard to align truck correctly. Added SPC UCAs and it was like night and day on the highway. Not to mention they could get the alignment back to factory specs. I lifted my Land Cruiser 2-3" and same drill, once I added SPC UCAs it was aligned and drove so much better on the highway. Really one of the best mods I have done.

I am just learning about Tacomas. But seem similar to the FJC and 4Runner front ends.

I am pretty sure I am getting a '17 TRD Pro DBCSB this fall. Excited to finally have a pick up and new off road rig.

 

You're absolutely right. UCA'S are worth every penny, and while they are not technically "needed" I personally wouldn't lift one of these trucks without replacing the uca's. I'm running icon stage 5, so my kit does need uca's to get full down travel but they do certainly make alignment much easier

 

Different coils for different spring rates and also different amounts of weight up front. I suggest following the suggest springs from Toytec that go with the different shock types. Mixing and matching will lead to no warrenties on your new parts should something happen.

The factory coil is longer and has a much heavier spring rate compared to a 2nd gen. and results in the front end being 1 inch higher from the factory.

 

Agreed. The guys doing my alignment said having the SPC UCA's made it possible to dial in the alignment I wanted so I didn't rub under compression. Caster at 3.6 / 3.5 on 275/70R17 with Boss 2.0 and AAL.

 

Has anyone installed the FOX 2.5" Factory Series IFP Front Coilers?

 

I'm sure it has been asked, but I'm looking for a 4" lift. Obviously limited options. Any recommendations for a full set up??

I had them on my 2013 4runner. I had zero complaints and see no reason why I won't be putting them on my taco.

Not sure without checking. You can look up part numbers on fox's website to verify. The valving may or may not be different, I wouldn't be surprised if they're the same though. Either way the build/construction should be the same which, in general, is high. The oil fox uses is supposedly among the best in terms of heat-fade resistance.. Least from my research.

 

Wow! So this company is stating that these 5100's are for the 2016 yet Bilstein themselves has yet to release a shock for the 2016 Tacoma. Something is not quite right here.

 

2015 & 2016 suspension is virtually identical.. But yeah if the company is telling you it's a 2016 shock made specifically for the 2016s they're most likely lying

 

I'm torn now between the Fox & Icon & Boss kit. But the Boss kit is the only approved kit made for the 16s.

Any opinions?

 

multiple posts on this thread stating that the suspension on the 2016 is quite a bit different so I'm wondering why you would think they are virtually identical? the coil is longer, a higher spring rate and comes from the factory with 1" of lift. I agree with @CoTacoTRD something is fishy here since billstein doesn't even offer a shock for the 16's yet.

@SLACKBOY id recommend BOSS and if you have the coin then bump up to the icon kit both are a kick ass and will provide you with a better than stock performance on and off road.

 

One of the things I'm confused about is why are the OME springs with 5100's ok for a 2nd gen and not for the 2016's? I understand that the 2016's come with a higher spring rate and come with a 1" "lift" from the factory but the BOSS kit that was "designed" for the 2016's is the same identical kit for the 2nd Gen's with 600lb spring rates. So if the BOSS lift is ok for the 3rd gen and is the same kit as the 2nd gen kit why wouldn't the OME/ 5100 work?

2005-2015's. Neither ARB / OME or Bilstein will warranty replace either part if it fails. Bilstein hasn't done testing of the 5100's for the 2016 and don't offer a shock for the 16s currently. People are using 5100's on the 16s with success, but not something i would recommend. The ideal number is 23" from center of hub to bottom of fender for optimal lift and stopping the shock from maxing out if you crank the coils up higher than that number. Hope that clarify's some
