Well, the new bearing the dealer used lasted approx. 200 miles. It's not nearly as bad as before but noticeable at low speeds (20-25mph).

Has anyone removed the needle bearing using anything other than the ECGS tool? Kills me to spend 60 bucks on a one time use tool.

Yeah people have rented some hole puller thing from autozone I think, maybe 8 pages back?

I can lend my tools, but not sure how fast as someone has them now and plans to use them I think - message me

Some people have made their own removal tool. Looks relatively straight forward if you have a bench or angle grinder. I might go that route if nobody has a tool to lend by the time I want to install the bushing.

Yeah could go that route. I guess shipping from US to Canada would be tough?

Not really but a lot of people shy away from it because it is an unknown for them. Basically just need to print on a customs label what is being shipped and the value. I think the shipping might jump to more like $10 or so rather than around $5 to ship within the US.

I don't actually have any vibes at the moment, but have everything here to put my lift on and figured I might as well do the bushing while I'm in there. It seems like there is a pretty good chance I would have the vibes after lifting (2 1/2").

    A little a this, a little a that...
It's not a sure thing that you'll get the vibes and the only common things you're pulling to do the lift are the two LCA bolts. I would just wait. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I agree. I have owned sever tacos an my current 2015 sr5 was the first to have this issue. So its not a given. Howevee go for it if you want to cant hurt. An every tacoma i have had lifted was between 2.5 an 3 inches. So it wasnt caused just by people going over 2.5 inches of front lift. Jmo

Got a chance to install my ECGS bushing yesterday. Test drove it after and everything was fine. Came home, about 30 minutes later I went to the store and on the way all of a sudden (I was going around 55MPH) it started to vibrate REALLY bad. Worse than it has ever done with the old needle bearing and it was constant. Also wasn't speed dependent.

    Any ideas?

Been looking it over in the driveway. CV axle is solid. Inner joint housing has minimal play (before the bushing this thing moved a ton). Visually looks the same as the passenger side. Bolts are tight. Don't know why it was fine for my first test drive but not when I went to the store.

I imagine you did replace the oil that drained out while installing bushing, right? Maybe bushing wasn't completely seaed or it came unseated

Yup, filled up the front diff after I finished.

Not sure how the bushing could come out. I tapped it in until it was flush on the back side. Not touching the spider gear. The outside protruded maybe 1/8" or less.

The vibrations were intermittent this morning on the way to/from the gym. Weird.

When I got home I took my front driver side wheel and Spidertrax spacer off. Cleaned everything LIBERALLY with brake cleaner. Put everything back together and went for a test drive. I guess I goofed up putting the wheel back on or something because it's smooth as butter now. Whew...glad it was just a brain fart and not something serious.

Maybe the wheel was loose or the spacer wasn't fitting on snugly. I would say don't worry about it now unless it becomes an issue again.

Definitely seems to be the case. Have about 100 miles on the bushing now and nothing weird since I removed/installed the wheel again.

I've greased my drive shift and got new tires and got them balanced and aligned. I don't know what else to do my six speed never gave me this trouble. But it's doing the dang thing your talking about between 30 and 40 I call it the shivel. I don't know what to do I've read some of these threads. But I'm kind of confused and I'm usually good at this. Thanks guys.
